Curiosity has this cat have you added the total of shipping on all these parts I bet the cost would be.

I had two original bellhousings here both from 71 cars, (1 a 340 and the other a 440) niether one were completely painted orange. They both had some orange overspray on them.

That is how I decided to restore mine. It may or may not be correct.

I've estimated that shipping parts up here has cost approximatly 30% more then just picking them up in the States.
Each year I go to Carlisle, I spend on average $5K on parts for that very reason.

Alan your workmanship is incredible but I too have never seen a bell with just a band of overspray

You have now!

Alan, I have run out of verbal accolades, so I have decided to here forward award you with dancing bananas, using the universal scale of 1 to 10 bananas.

It looks almost as good as it did when it was in Port Rexton. Nice job, Alan. The last time I stood next to the Cuda I could look into the driver's window and see my foot under the rocker panel and floor. Looking forward to seeing it finished.

I have just read the entire post, it's the first time I noticed it. AWESOME!

A famous car? I would say yes! I knew exactly which car was being restored once I saw the pic of it sitting on barrels, and nearly eveyone I know has seen it. I would bet people around the world know about it, too; some of them have even chimed in! That makes it WORLD FAMOUS!

And Alan, don't let the "paint overspray" "brake booster" etc. etc. comments get you down! For crying out loud, guys! Look at what he started with, and what he's done to it! Absolutely amazing! He has the right to do whatever he wants to do!

If anyone wants a car that's a Govier grade, concours correct, Gold Certified, crayon marked, rectally-examined-for-original-1971-gas-smell-from-the-tailpipe, show babied trailer queen piece of "art" that you really can't enjoy .... GO DRAG ONE OUT OF A MUD PIT FROM ON TOP OF 50 GALLON DRUMS YOURSELF, AND BUILD IT YOUR WAY!!

Whew. That feels better....

Personally, I think he's done a great job on a beautiful car that he's going to have a lot of fun driving the wheels off of!

Looks great Alan.

So when you're done, I'll have your plane tickets ready to come out west and finish my SB off for me. At your present rate of work you should be done in about 3 days!

...do you prefer to fly Air Canada or WestJet?

Hey Alan, once you had the engine and K-member under the car, what method did you use to lower the car down over the whole assembly?

I think that you should hire someone to help you make a book. Like project charger. I think that it would definatly sell some copies. Great job!!!

And here I thought the plan was to just drive it on a trailer and haul it to the next owner's house.

Please explain I wasn't aware of any adjustments that can be made to a factory bellhousing

The last 440+6 Cuda I restored used a Lakewood Scatter Shield that had to be index, but I'm honestly not aware of anything that could be done to a factory unit.

Please explain the process

Unbelievable work, I love the story and look of this car, cant wait to see the finished product. Will it be at the Nats or Carlisle next year, I know you are selling it but is the buyer planning to attend either one?

From the way you replied I'm guessing you used the offsets that you weld to the bellhousing to index the Lakewood you did.

You index a factory bell just like you did the Lakewood and use offset dowels to make any needed corrections.
