I'm going to be building my first big block. 440 it is going to be a street/strip setup on a budget. I'm looking at stroking it to a 500ci. all forged internals and will have a D1SC procharger on it. right now I'm looking for a set of heads. Ive found the 440 source stealth aluminum head. are these a good head for this build? is there a better iron head? even though i would have to drop the compression? i don't need/want the best out there just something to help me move a 94 club cab dakota to about 11.0 in the 1/4

thanks.
Dan.

stroker, supercharger, and aftermarket heads arent usually the words I use in conjunction with "budget" what kind of budget are you looking at?

as cheap as possible with out using junk. and still be able to make power I'm think i need about 600hp at the tires. i already have the supercharger. i want to build the short block strong even if i have to run the stock heads until i get more money thats fine. so i know I'm going to have a forged bottom end. then i can upgrade form there i just want to have every thing planned out before i jump into this. it will also be ran on 93 pump gas with meth injection once the supercharger goes on.

Really with the supercharger you don't need to stroke it to 500" to go 11.0's, unless you goals are higher later on down the road.

Also this thread would do better in the race section.

ok ill start one over there. i might have higher goals later, but if i rebuild the bottom anyways i dont think there is a big price difference between the 2 cranks but i could be wrong.

Wow that's some budget. The S/C set-up alone is going to run around 3-4k. I'd think you could do 11's pretty easy w/o it. 500 inches w/ a 590 solid. 1.5/1.6 rollers, RPM intake and a big holley should get you close to 11.0. The S/C unit w/ 6psi would probaby drop you into the low 10's easy.
whops you already have the boost. Go for it, you'll need a boost cam. Something w/ a 112-114 centerline. Call Scott at SDCE and have him build you a carb. Doubt you'll need much boost for the 11 second pass.
