Well I fianlly took the Challenger to the track. The last time I was on the track was 22 years ago.
Car ran 12.01 at 118 shifting at 6000 RPM.

Was making the next run with intent on shifting at 7000 RPM and the 8 3/4 let go on the launch.

Time for a Dana

Thanks for all the advice I have received on here getting back up to speed after 22 years.

Sucks that it broke, but at least you know it's making power If it's an automatic remember to check the sprag after the rear end breakage.

It has a 4 speed. It was spinning on the launch and I was going to try some different settings on the Cal Tracs but them came the breakage

A 12 flat combo ..in a fairly heavy E body ...with a 4 speed ?

An 8 3/4 is marginal at best !

I pulled the rear apart and all it did was break the DS axle. I have never seen one break like this one. The break looks like it was machined.

I bet it broke right at the edge of the splines just outside the posi clutches or side gears Nice and smooth break on both ends with one to two twists in the splines before it broke at least all of the 8 3/4 stock axles I've broke at the track have been that way, the small ends make nice paper weights
