I have a set of 15 x 6.5 rallye wheels and would like to know if the trim ring that is on it is considered 15 x 6.5 or 15 x 7. Thinking about going with a polished ring instead of brushed and not sure what I should be looking for as a replacement.

Thanks, Joe

I have 15X6.5 Ralleys on my 71 Challenger, and I used the polished factory 15X7 trim rings, no fit issuses, or oddball gaps

Most of the factory 15" Rallye trim rings were actually for the 15x6.5" rim and were 1/2" thinner than the real 15x7" trim rings. The latest MP 15x7 trim rings are 3" deep instead of the 2 1/2" older ones. I don't think the new ones or the original 15x7" trim rings will fit a 15x6.5" Rallye wheel.

15x7" Left and 15x6.5" Right

That's interesting, I checked the measurement and you were right, I compared a set of "New" 15X7 repro trim rings to the ones I have on the (15X7 trimrings) Challenger (which I purchased in the early 80"s),,,,,there is a 1/2" difference........tonight I'll try fitting a "new" ring on?.....see if it fits?

Back in the early 70's, when Chrysler released their 15x6.5" Rallye wheels, they decided to make the trim rings fit the new 15x6.5" Rallye wheels. So they modified the dies that were used to make the 15x7" rings. For some reason, known only to Chrysler, they used the same part numbers that were used for the original 15x7" rings. This came back to bite them on the butt when they decided to reproduce the original 15x7" trim rings. After they made a batch of the new rings, they discovered that they had reproduced the 15x6.5" trim rings instead of the 15x7".

So if you bought a set of 3461043 or 3461222 after 1972 and before 2008, you probably got the 15x6.5" trim rings.

The latest trim rings from Chrysler are the correct 15x7" rings.

Ummmm, Not so. I have brand "new" set of 4 15x7 Polished Trim rings with P/N 3461043, made 8/29/06, still in the plastic bags. I temporarily mounted 2 on my 71 SE with 15x7 wheels and they fit perfectly, no gaps. The polished reflective area measures 3" from the inside, and has an overall depth of 3 1/4+". IF I measure the Back Side of the trim ring, it measures 3 3/4" edge to edge.

Again, P/N 3461043, build tag of 8/29/06. Mine are the same as the left ones in Snoopy's pic. I still have 3 6.5" ones in great shape I have no need for(Anyone wants them? )

These have never seen the road and I'd gladly trade them for the correct (for my '71)-Brushed style rings. Yes i'll be at carlilse this weekend and can bring them.

The trim rings you have are not P/N 3461043.

They are:

P3461043 Trim Ring, Chrome, 15" x 7" Rims

This is a parts tag on a box containing a 15x6.5" Rallye Trim Ring.

Chrysler discontinued the 3461043 and 3461222 trim rings in 2005 or 6. There are still a few floating around. I bought a set a couple of months ago.
When they decided to reproduce the 15x7" and screwed up the first batch, they decided to put them in the system.

We stock the original Mopar 15 x 7 trim rings in both brushed and chrome.

The correct part numbers are:

P3461043 - Chrome
P3461222 - Brushed

These are the correct dimensions for the 15" Rallye or steel wheel applications and will not fit the 15 X 6.5 wheels

Thanks.

Yours are not 3461043, they are P3461043. Different part numbers, different parts. I think you should reread my previous posts throughly before you comment.

Hang on the Snoopy, Hang on. I have clearly shown in Exibit One (Above), that my Trim rings are labeled P/N 3461043 NOT P3461043.

Get your Eyes checked.

Anyone out there in Mopartsland smarter than a Visually impaired Guy from the west coast named after a cartoon Dog OR an equally thickheaded guy (with photographic evidence, mind you) from the east coast named after a race horse?

Care to chime in kids?

Ok Snoop.

Here's pic one:

I am kind of in between the coasts and not named after anything but my car. No glasses nor any needed but I see P/N P 3461043. P for performance division reproduction not origonal.

Thank you
