The wife and I went to the Mopar Tech Center open house YEARS ago. 12+ years ago? We went on a "special" tour and I askled the guy, "whats that engine on the dyno stand". He said you arent SUPPOSED to see that but its the new Hurricane. I have no opinion good or bad BUT, DAMN, that thing had been around for a LONG time before being introduced/used. Is 10+ years typical. Seems extreme. I assumed after that much testing the thing would have been bullet proof like the old slant six.
As I understand it was made to compete with Ecoboost under FCA but they stopped spending money years ago to pay down debt so they could become a good merger partner. So its no big conspiracy why it almost instantly went into production after the merger.

Doesn't matter because hard working Americans are screwed when they buy this garbage engine that has no fix-from a company and dealer network who does not care. Even the highly ranked Toyota Company has a garbage 6 cyl in their Tundra. Difference is I see NOBODY- not even loyal Toyota fan boys bragging up how great the new Toyota turbo 6 cyl is. The big three need to make a Robust, well designed powerful NA V8s that will last with common sense Prev maint.

Technically, the engine is not 'new'. But, it sure seems like Stellantis is going down the same rabbit-hole as Ford did when they did their turbo and twin-turbo 6-cylinder and jammed it into their trucks. I will pass

If what I heard is true it'll be mustang size and much smaller than the charger, it may very well just be a new challenger too.
I took some heat from a few members for calling out the Hurricane 6. Why is it hard to believe a company run by an American Culture hating foreigner named Carlos Tavares would deliberately sabotage the brand and products? One does not learn these things when getting info from traditional sources or sources that have a financial interest in presenting positively on Stellantis. Some are Fanboys that ignore all the bad. Tim Kuniskis is the man that brought Americans the fun and ultra Powerful Challengers and Chargers. He was the man in charge of the FUN part of Mopar. But he was eventually forced out by Carlos. How was he forced out- Was he fired? No- he was made to promote junk- junk that Tavares knew would make Kuniskis quit. Tim is a Mopar muscle guy from our era- or at least LOVES Mopars from the greatest era. Forcing him to promote the EV with the FAKE exhaust note was the final straw that made Tim leave. Carlos Tavares intentionally rushed the Charger EV and by getting it to market by a certain date he then received tens of millions in bonuses. The Charger EV is junk. Google it. The Hurricane 6 is riddled with plastic, cost cutting engineering and no QC with no fix available. Owners of the H6 get jerked around at the dealer with BS repair gimmicks and tactics. CDJR (Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram) is in such dire straits right now that the board forced Carlos to step down. The new CEO is named John Elkann. He knows that America is not Europe. He brought BACK Tim Kuniskis along with other FORMER CDJR people. They have a MESS to clean up. Oh- and Carlos had permission to keep going with V8s in the Ram but chose not to- instead replacing it with the Hurricane 6. The info is out there. How about entire fleets of new Dodge police pursuit vehicles that are defective and unusable? Yes, its true. These vehicles are not necessarily powered by the Hurricane 6- but they were made under the cost cutting measures of Mr Tavares. Anyone who enjoys purchasing new vehicles must show their disapproval by not buying the defective models and force the MFGR to do better. The hurricane was in development for years, its not something that was rushed out the door. IIRC its just their 4cyl they've been using for decade+ with 2 cylinders added to it and so far they've been holding up fine. The hemi is only going to be available in lower trims, like work truck base models or I assume a value pack truck seeing as the classic is now gone which will rev up sales that they desperately need
Thats funny, I needed a 4 cyl for an 18 journey and anything decent miles was $2500 bucks because they are junk and they can't keep em in stock.

Always a silver lining. Due to the overwhelming rejection of the poor-quality Hurricane 6 engine in the Rams- Stellantis is bringing back the Hemi in the Rams. Hopefully the tick is remedied. CDJR needs not a win- but many sales success Wins. It's just a shame CDRJ is not an American owned company. The Challenger and Charger were truly amazing in that- younger people who don't know and who don't care about the 1963-1972 era of great Mopars would buy the modern Dodge muscle simply because they like them! Thats what you want- the young demographic buying your product. Harley Davidson is an example where only the older crowd that has an affinity for the 60s stuff Buys HD bikes (And the older guys generally have the money for such an expense.) You want preferably to appeal to all the age demos and present different pricing options. Many don't know this, but the (Modern times) Challenger consistently outsold the Camaro. This is huge! Us older guys know that traditionally the Chevy Camaro sales ALWAYS buried the sales of the Mopar equivalent.
