Sure would, just less compression, and a compatable cam. My guess is you would need to reduce duration slightly because of the lower compression. An all out, 93 octane build might lose ten percent versus a max compression build?

The thing i see is, as long as most bb mopar heads are inline valve arrangement, there is a limit to ultimate power. A friend is working on a ford 458 inch, SC1 canted valve motor that should make 1100 hp in nitrous mode, could go as high as 1175 with a killer cam and NA prepped heads.

A few shops have done port programs for the Pro Stock Option B1 head now. I believe that Brodix still supply the castings, much in the same way they do regular B1 castings.

From what I've read, all the B1's have really small combustion chambers, do some builders ever open up the chambers? The B1 pistons that are stocked all seem to be for like 13-14:1 ratio, which is probably a good ratio for drag builds on race gas. I would go down the B1 road if I could end up in the 10-11:1 range on a 528 bottom end. Koffel claims the heads flow best with the chamber at 50cc. They start out around 72. I'm thinking the 50cc idea is old school thinking and all depends on how you relieve the chamber.

Kinda surprised. That's not a whole lot more power than the Indy -1 headed nitrous "street" motor he built for a guy that's been all over facebook. It's in a Duster that's supposedly going to do DragWeek, but hasn't been to the track yet. Goodwin builds some real nice stuff, but I have some doubts about that one.

After having the best porting, 2.3/1.78 valves installed in my 440-1 heads a rather high dollar build at 550 cubes made 926 hp. So this "street/nitrous" build rhat is supposed to make a lot more power doesn't sound legit to me. I suspect it is hype from the car owner, not Goodwin.

Gregsdart and DVW...I completely agree. The motor I'm referring to made a little over 1100 hp IIRC. Like I said, it's a nitrous motor meant for Drag Week w/ a single dominator on a cast Indy manifold. So that makes it even more questionable. He claims Goodwin knows more about the -1 head than anyone. Apparently so considering it's 150-200 hp higher than anyone else has been able to make. Not sure on the guy's name...maybe John Ciseki? It's a white Duster, pretty sure it's a '73.

WHY would you say a B1 cant make more than 1100 in nitrous configuration?? I never claimed a limit anywhere about B1 heads. Only that the inline configuration just has a limitation a canted valve head doesn't, which i think is well understood by most head guros. That is why the Predator heads came out. My statement simply points to a highly developed canted valve head that can make lots of power with a lot less cubes.

I called a dyno shop in the Medord,OR area to schedule some engine testing and tuning, one SB Ford Windsor pump gas 387 C.I. street motor with EFI for a good customer and my 572 C.I. KB street wedge bock 4.5x4.5 with a set of B1 heads with 15.02 to 1 comp. ratio for E85 fuel and a sheet metal tunnel ram using a pair of Mark Sullens E85 Dominators. It will be a couple of weeks before my motors can go on that dyno due to other customers already schedule in front of me ![shruggy shruggy](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/shruggy.gif) I'm hoping to make close to 400 HP on the Ford Motor and close to or over 1000 HP on the B1 motor on E85 ![luck luck](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/luck.gif) i bought a bunch used B1 parts years ago and I'm hoping they work well together ![shruggy shruggy](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/shruggy.gif)

Edit-nothing for a 4.375 stroke, so it would have to be a 4.250 or 4.5 engine.

Molnar makes a 7.0 ling heavy duty H beam, with a cometic .027 gasket and a piston for 4.25 stroke it might get you close enough. What about changing pin height on a piston order? Last option, use the 4,5 stroke piston and a custom aluminum rod.

This seems like an awful lot for an MC motor..
Having had BES build me an original motor and talk about MC's with 70 more cubes I still don't think we would hit those numbers. Goodwin builds some badass motors, but scratching my head on this one.

So if it's not about class rules, numbers matching or chassis limitations, at what point do you go Gen II hemi over B1? Probably the cost isn't that much different in the end? The B1 mc heads, from what i have read, produce better power per$$ spent, so it becomes a choice of what you like.

Put it in a car run it down the track and cross the scales and then get back tome....And MC head is plenty capable of 1100, we did it at 525". Those numbers as with others I've seen from Goodwin are pie in the sky. I have seen one of his 5.0" BS Hemi deals come FAR short of his advertised numbers on a dyno..Maybe I could put up a video claiming I made 1400 does that make it so..
