We swapped heads and to Isky iron rockers and I’m trying to measure for new pushrods. The engine has a hydraulic .509 in it and I can’t seem to find the pre-load number for the lifters anywhere. Can someone please tell me what it is supposed to be?

What lifters are you using?
I ask b/c some of them (the anti pump-up ones) will allow you to run a much tighter setup.
My SB favourite are the SpeedPro HT2011R, which are supposed to be installed with 0 (zero) preload. As in: tighten things down until the pushord stops spining/turning between your fingers.
Prior to switching to my current hydraulic roller setup that's what I used, and loved them! I have seen people take that as tighten the adjuster until you collapse all the preload and make it so tight you CAN'T turn the pushrod. lol

With my .509 (383) I did zero lash with Isky rockers, tighten till pushrod stops turning, 6800 easy all day You know ‘preload’ is a built in rev limiter to ‘save’ your engine

Standard lifters should get .030-.040” preload. How about all iron motor compared too iron block with aluminum heads and then aluminum block and heads ?

I have seen people take that as tighten the adjuster until you collapse all the preload and make it so tight you CAN'T turn the pushrod. lol I honestly can't understand why someone would conclude that is the right setup, given that they are working with adjustable rocker arms already so presumably they must know a little more about valvetrain than the proverbial uninitiated! lol Still...I have no doubt this does happen, and have in fact seen numerous such on-line posts as I investigated the whole topic during my move to the hydraulic roller setup. Even those (which are Comp Cam pieces) I ended up setting up with just 1/4 turn preload.

Ok so am I under thinking this process? Can i just snug up the checking pushrod against the lifter and the adjustable rocker? and use that measurement -.030? This is all new territory for me, the BB has always just had iron heads, stock rockers and pushrods. I don't want to not complete Dragweek and don't have billions to continually throw at valvetrain parts. Also since the Stealth's only accept 5/16" pushrods without modifications should i do the .118 wall Manton's? The only other Series 3 option at Manton is a .083" wall pushrod

The only other Series 3 option at Manton is a .083" wall pushrod If you are measuring for pushrods, snug the adjuster up with the pushrods until you can just barely feel the pushrod resist turning with your finger. Take that measurement, then ADD your preload to the length of the checking rod for your actual pushrod length. (basically, what you have above, but ADD the preload to your pushrod measurement)
