It was good to see that Summit replied in the video's comments earlier today saying they were going to look into this and not sell any more of them until they take it up with Speedmaster. Time will tell but at least it seems they are trying to do the right thing.

F speedmaster. That is criminal.

I have other issues with them from a purchase a few years ago. They can go fall off a cliff

Avoid Amazon. And anyplace similar. Stick with the main stream sources or the manufactures directly.

It's an issue everywhere, regardless what you are buying.

Bad enough we have to deal with the Proforms and others who have been ripping off Edelbrock, MSD, Holley, and others for so long, we are used to seeing it.

Little to no recourse for small companies. I am not surprised this has begun to happen with smaller companies. Anyone who has been to SEMA in the last two decades has watched and seen the blatant way the Chinese companies are outright steeling other peoples hard work.

If the feds weren’t busy dickin’ with people here in the US they could be doing more to stop the counterfeiting.

And he is right about customer support. I had the same thing happen to me on some wiring and hard parts for my grandson’s Chinese made ATV.

No questions asked to return the stuff, shipped out without any grief. I finally figured out what they screwed up.

In my day job life, I try to stick to the USA or Japanese brands, I can't look for Canadian flags, because we don't make anything here anymore outside of base meals, uranium and oil. I look for the box with the stars and stripes or the rising sun on it and turn the part over to find it was made in China anyway. I wrote a lot more on this, but I've been slapped for being too political before.

Wait a paycheck or two, and buy the better parts for you car.

This counterfeit stuff has been everywhere for a long time. Oakley sunglasses, for example, I only buy off their website, or at the Oakley store in the mall the rare times that I go there. Buying them from other sources means there is good chance you may not get the real ones. Anything that looks like a deal is likely fakery.

Aren’t Edelbrock heads basically a stock head copy with a few improvements. Patents protect a product for X amount of years then companies are allowed the copy them and make improvements. TV’s for example if they weren’t allowed they be copied and improved we would still be watching RCA black and white TV with rabbit ears. Or driving early model Fords. Be careful what you wish for.

Performance engines parts market did just fine before the Chinese Government rounded up all their peasants and put them to work in factories making parts for our fine business people seeking an extra buck.

How do you make the best widgets when said widgets are not even something that is part of your culture to begin with? They just copy and reverse engineer parts based on what is asked of them. It's not like the Chinese guy even knows what a Mopar is.

I'm for well made products with longevity engineered into them so that they don't end up in the landfill in record time.

All well and good. I think the issue people get upset about is blatant copying of an item (MSD ignitions, Holley carbs and fuel pumps, by Proform and others for one) while making them inferior in quality to achieve the stupid low price point. They are attempting to fool people into thinking they are getting a smoking deal on the real McCoy.

Obviously, outright counterfeiting with name brands and packaging being copied are not good.

The real danger is people tearing up good parts, wrecking cars and getting hurt because of this trash. So it's not just being butthurt over someone making a better mouse trap.

I believe PRI and SEMA have addressed this, but likely only for companies that have ponied up to be members.

I recall a number of years ago at PRI. There were two Chinese ladies had a table in a booth towards the back of the hall. Had a number of parts, CNC machined bits, etc, laid out that looked like name brand stuff. Rocker arms, fittings, odds and ends. Pretty blatantly advertising reverse engineering of stuff to be labeled as your own. They were largely ignored as far as I could see. I guess someone stopped to chat.

Chinese imported tools and parts have gotten better over the past decade because folks in the US are their guinea pigs buying up bottom dollar junk until they were able to catch up in quality. Now it's similar quality for the same price and in some cases better quality because domestic production has had to go full throttle on value engineering.

This example should be a surprise to noone and won't stop most from buying those copies. They'll brag about saving a few bucks while the original company struggles to compete.

Not this one, nor do I use Chinese parts in any of my stuff. I don't see how anyone can condone the practice of reverse engineering and profiting from pirated tech..This has NOTHING to do with advancing the technology it is just blatant piracy and theft of intellectual property.

I would sure like to take a walk through your shop or house. Although having a wife with a great job helps too. What make tv, washer and dryer do you have.
