On my first mopar-71 Challenger I had the very first aftermarket partial 1/4 panels installed on by my dads friend. They were sold thru Sherman and Associates and were AWEFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But the lady on the phone at Sherman warned me- those panels were basically "A flat sheet of steel with the details hammered in by a guy." The wheel well opening with its details were kinda ok but there was no side marker light hole of any kind and the panel was flat as a sheet of plywood. I bought a pair of those exact panels for my '69 300, from Sherman..the car that's in my first post. But I found out like you, they were just flat stamped metal, in other words JUNK! So I got a Hemmings book..( no Internet in 1985) did research, and found a place near Phoenix Arizona called Mr. Good Parts...a scrap yard, that sold all rust free metal. I had them ship me, two FULL Quarter panels, came with inner wheel wells, and trunk extensions. They were cut off of a two door hardtop car. They showed up by semi truck in front of my house, strapped to big pallets! They were supposed to be delivered to the body shop, my car was at, and someone had screwed up! Luckily my body shop came out, and picked them up. Those panels are still on the car today.

1987 Chrysler Fifth Avenue. Bought it high school as just a beater after my '80 Buick Century got totaled in a wreck. My friend's Dad was is a big Mopar guy who at the time had a '66 Dart drag car and a '66 Coronet Convertible gave me a 360 to rebuild and put in the car. Learned a lot and just ended up keeping the car. Been through at least 4 different engine combos over the years.

We were diehard MoPar guys, I wish I took a pic of what I had on my dash!!! It was 40 years ago, people stilllll bring it up. Car was all MoPar, in the above pic it had no frame, it was all MoPar unibody. Drove incredible, so good I kept and reused the front clip when I redid the car!

We ran into him a few times out in Phoenix - he was getting some of the leftovers we passed on. I wonder if Brad is still alive - I think he was a real druggie. The company I owned with my partner operated from around 1981 to when I sold it in 1995. Anybody buy stuff from Rare Iron Co? That was us. Our parts came hand-picked out of TX, NM, AZ, NV, & CA. We were the big guys.

He was very friendly, and helpful, when dealing with him over the phone, back and forth. He shipped everything exactly as I ordered from him. So I was very satisfied with his service and company.

1972, sophomore in high school, just turned 16, working at a gas station for $1.00 an hour pumping gas, $1.25 when I changed oil or tires outside on the lift. Found a '67 Coronet 2drht with a bad small block. Not a bad looking car for dark brown. Local junk yard had a crashed squad with a 383 and a lot of miles. Sold my Yamaha 360 Enduro and gave $50 for the car, $100 for the 383 and tranny and swapped it in auto shop. Wasn't real fast with the tall rear gears. So, I pulled a set of 3.91s from a van in the local junk yard ($5) and then the old Coronet WAS more fun. Still didn't win many races, but was more fun around town. That summer, I found a B5 blue '69 SuperBee in the 'dog row' at a Chysler dealership a couple of towns away. Fresh air hood, 3.91s, bench seat, column shift, crashed driver's fender and bumper and a 'bad tranny'. $165, a couple of quarts of ATF and I drove it home. The front pump seal was torn. Must have been when they swapped the 440 in place of the 383. I started winning a few races with that car. Then, right after I graduated high school, I found a well worn '70 340 Cuda with headers and Western aluminum slots for $750, Burnt Tan Metallic (NEVER liked that color)........................I turned down a green '69 Charger R/T with a bad engine for the same money only because the Cuda actually ran and I thought (at the time) that it was a lighter car. Sold the 'Bee for $750 and bought the Cuda. Not too long after I got the Cuda, the local junk yard called and said they had just gotten a crashed Cuda in. Knowing I was a Mopar guy, they wanted to know if I would be interested in the 'odd' engine. It was a Shaker 440-6 car and the hood survived! I never liked the 340 in the Cuda after having the big blocks so I must have shown my excitement cause I ended up giving $250 for engine and tranny with the hood! I had to borrow some money from my dad after promising him I would ONLY race it at I-57 drag strip. That was about the time that I was introduced to christmas trees at the starting line. Until then, they had starting dials. Oops, sorry, got carried away................................

Does a 76 Aspen count Heck ya! Regardless, it had a bullet proof Ma Mopar drivetrain!

Hey pittsburghracer, that's Keystone Raceway in the background isn't it? I raced my '69 RR there many times in I think it opened in '70 (?) because I remember for sure I raced my RR and motorcycles at PID in '69. Have to check when Keystone opened? Anyway, a little over ten years later I sold my '69 RR to a bodyman and friend working at a friend's body shop (Jack) Toole Auto Body off of Sawmill Run on Mcneilly Rd. I'm wondering if you might have ever seen or run across the 'RR as I had talked to my friend a long while back and he raced it (mostly street raced and some track time)? Just taking a chance that you or someone may have known or seen my first car? F5 green with gold mist highlights on the body. Pretty sure keystone opened in the 1960’s but yes that one was from keystone. The other track picture was from Nu-Be drag strip in New Bethlehem Pa.
