rapom... that is a beautiful looking '59 Dodge! The Coronet looks great too!  Thank You, saw one about 15 years ago at a car show and just had to have one. Bought it 3 years ago from the estate of the original owner who was able to keep it in great condition living on the east side of Cleveland.

My first mopar was in 1985. I was 16 years old and it was a 71 challenger. When done it had more bondo than metal. It was such a mess under the Dupont Centari enamel. Plastic door panes were powdery and degraded. Had a nice 440 in it and ran 9.3 in the 1/8th mile.
Keep old mopars alive.

Ordered this Cuda late May 1971, and got it sometime in July 71.
Probably built near the end of production for 1971 vehicles.
Kept it for 39 years, before selling it off, back in 2010.
Had over 300,000 miles on it, when sold.
Originally a 383 4bbl, 3:55 sure grip. automatic.
I had the 383 with 4bbl, then, for years a 6bbl. carburation set up.
Then i yanked out the 383, and put a 440 in it, transferring the 6bbl. carbs onto a 440 6 bbl. manifold.
Ran that 440 for years, until that engine let go on the I-5, coming back from a Spring Fling, car show.
Put another 440 in it, and that was the engine that the Cuda sold with back in 2010.
But i saved the old 383, and that engine left here also, when the car sold.
Ran consistent 13.20's, at 108 mph, at Sacramento Raceway, street tires, open headers.
Never did get it into the 12's.
Close but no cigar.
The guy that wound up getting the car after the flipper, tried getting it into the 12's, but he never did either.
He sold it, but it's still here somewhere in Commiefornia, but now it's Sassy Grass Green. Great Story   Awesome story!

'69 Super Bee $1200 with a bad clutch in 1974. My brother got it stuck on the beach and burnt up the clutch. Was B5 blue.

On my first mopar-71 Challenger I had the very first aftermarket partial 1/4 panels installed on by my dads friend. They were sold thru Sherman and Associates and were AWEFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But the lady on the phone at Sherman warned me- those panels were basically "A flat sheet of steel with the details hammered in by a guy." The wheel well opening with its details were kinda ok but there was no side marker light hole of any kind and the panel was flat as a sheet of plywood.
Keep old mopars alive.

I'm amazed how many of you had a muscle car so early in life. My dad would've gave me  on that. I had to beg him at the age of 16, a senior in HS, to let me spend MY money earned from part time job and mowing many lawns on my 318 truck. And the only way I convinced him is because he knew I was pulling the mower behind my bike with other tools stacked on top of the mower.
Facts are stubborn things.

By the time I bought my 1st Mopar, I already had a full grasp of their potential, I was working at the local gas station with three repair bays and was doing tune ups on them by that time. My future wife had a 68 Sport Satellite with a 383, 727, 3/4 with 3:91 rear gears. I did a valve job and timing chain (maybe I slipped a cam in there...), and did some body work on it. We ended up selling that car to pay for our wedding (still married, will be 48 years in May). We started life pretty fast, we bought a house 6 months later (I was 19), it was cheaper then renting! We had a car for her to go to work (she got my car), a beater for me to drive (the one I was trying to sell when the buyer wanted the 68 way worse then we did), and shortly after, a hot rod to play with.
Before I bought my 1st car (the Buick) I drove dad's 64 Oldsmobile with a 394 4bbl, (it was fast even with 4 guys in it). I knew fast cars, and I knew me. I had a habit of breaking fast cars I knew I had to have something reliable for each of us to drive to work, and then a fast toy. I busted my butt with side jobs so I could have that toy and not short change the home life.

My first car - 340 4-speed, 44,xxx miles & F-8 green. F&R elastomeric bumpers, black interior, PS, PDB, 3:55 Sure Grip. Bought it from the original owner - he was an accountant for Chrysler & he ordered this Cuda as soon as the order banks opened. This photo was the day I brought the car home - July 1976. I taught myself how to drive a stick on this car.

My '67 Fury III that I bought for $300 in October of 1979. 383-2bbl with only 36,000 miles.
I have a color pic scanned from a Polaroid, but it's a .bmp file and we can't attach those here.
I had it for three and a half years and I bid on my current '67 because it was a red 383 4dr hardtop like this one. This one was a factory Bright Red Poly car, unlike my current one which was originally Light Green.
