Trying to figure how much fuel to take with me out west.
Curious to know on 9 to 10 second cars with 500 inch motors running on gasoline how many passes you AVERAGE on a 5 gallon tank. Looking for cars that also weigh over 3300 LBS.
THANKS!!!

I don't know. I always top the cell off after each run for more weight over the rear tires. I have a 10 gallon cell and can usually drive wherever and back on the one tank.

I normally look at around 8 passes @ about 20litres (5 US gallons)
505ci @ 3800ish
For some this might change dependent on RPM .

Normal tracks about ten 9.0 1/4 mile runs driving to the staging lanes and back to the pits. Morning warm up will add to that figure. Real long shut down like Indy uses a bit more.

Use WAY more driving around and warm ups than actually making a pass. I use a gallon or so to make a run from pit to pit. I use more warming it up in the morning.

It not sure I would carry fuel across state lines “out west”. DOT guys frown on that and with all the dangers of carrying fuel on a long distance I’d buy it at the track.

$25 you must be running the good stuff, I pay less for Q16 here. There are cheaper option for fuel here for sure. The track only supplies VP. But we have Sonoco and Torco readily available as well.

Title says 1/4 mile passes! Dont need to know to the drop so 2 or 3 speed won't really matter much.

Al you are correct. Not being a local or having much spare time, I did buy my fuel at the track last year and it was Q16. Bringing my cars this year and they are set up to run on cheap stuff. I've seen no difference in ET between VP 110 and AV gas. So far 9.64 at 138 with a 1.28 60 ft. Motor is a stock block 520, Stock Trick Flow heads, .640ish lift on cam at 12.4 compression.
I've found out you can haul upto 110 gals of fuel with out special permits. Hell, my boat hold more than that and never heard of trailer boats being pulled over.
Thanks to all those that replied. I'm guessing worse case is about 7 passes and best case is 10.
