Guys,
I have been on hiatus for a very long time. took a break on the challenger for a while now am getting back to finishing it.

I need to know which universal radiator you guys are using from summit for these cars and how you mounted it.

I have done extensive searches but have come up with nothing.

I believe it was a circle track Ford application for less than $200. Not sure of the size etc.or how would be the best way to mount it.

I have a proform black magic electric fan and shroud to go on it.

Also there was somebody that had even posted part numbers for the necessary hoses that would mount right up (although I think that was a B-body although it should work on my E-body.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Elmo

I'll start you off. I purchased the universal Ford 19" x 27" Summit radiator for my BB Challenger. I fabricated my own alum. brackets (pic. is driver's side) and mounted it using the factory rad. holes. I also added a bung to the radiator since it did not come w/one. I ended up having to fabricate a shroud too (PITA).

Have you measured your radiator opening? Is your car an AC car? I ask because your opening may be smaller than mine and therefore you need to use a different radiator.

I have a 66 Charger, but used Summits cheapest Ford rad, had mountring brackets welded to it, and bolted it right in place of the old stocker. I bought an electric fan from Kwik Wire when they were at a show I was at, and got it really cheap ($40.00).

The hoses were a chore to find, but ended up using any standard hose NAPA had that was about the correct shape. Both upper and lower hoses were longer to begine with, I just cut off the part I didn't need.

Using a Summit tranny cooler on teh front as well.

Don't know if that helps you or not, but that's my experience.

Thanks, Guys.
Looks like summit has a replacement style for a $100 more for a charger. That should fit right up.
Thanks again.

If you guys will list what hoses get the job done, I will archive it.

I have seen a couple guys use different hoses with a section of stainless tube between them, it actually looked cool.

Just a quick note: on my 69 GTX, the upper hose was a slam dunk. The lower hose was kind of crunched/kinked, and I trimmed both ends to get the kinks out. Not every car would need that but mine did.

For those who are on the road......

I did some digging and found Advance uses Dayco numbers, but they add a C at the beginning.

The lower hose is easy to remember: 1969 Hemi Roadrunner (or just about any other late 60s passenger car big block), Dayco 70592. It's just a stock big block lower hose, which is why that one won't often be in stock......

The upper hose will take a little more effort to remember.... Dayco 71654, which fits
1991-1994 Ford Ranger with a 3.0 V6.

Personally it's easier for me to remember the original application rather than a number. I don't like to carry build books in the car since the build is changing all the time, so this way works better for me.

If, for instance, a guy was stuck in the boonies with a split upper hose, he could just ask for one for a Ranger and get Goodyear, Kelly, or whatever brand is available rather than having to rely on the part number. Might come in handy someday.

FYI....
