Billet Aluminum Carburetor 950 Base Plate Holley, Quick Fuel 4150 Dominator 4500 Anyone here ever use one? How well does it fit the 4500 intake?

After fighting with transfer slot positions and lengths (especially on older dominators) and based on a couple of recommendations from some carb builders, I am using the BLP dual pattern plate. If you are comparing it to other plates pay extra attention to the transfer slot (width, length and position) in relation to the throttle blades-BLP seems to get this right and it will pay some dividends setting up the carb. It is a nice piece, I use it on my Quick Fuel 950 annular main body. I will say that I have never bolted it to one of my 4500 intakes but I could as the carb is already out and I have a M1 4500 under the bench.

It looks like you may need a spacer. This is a low deck M1 4500, so not sure how close all the 4500 intake patterns would be, but for this one you will either need a spacer that is cut back or do a little grinding on the intake.

Now, that I think about it, I have an Indy 440-3 on my race engine, so I'll try to snap a few pictures tonight to see what kind of clearance issues are there.

We make an adapter for using a 4150 on a 4500 intake...Basically just to make a transition from the large plenum opening on a 4500 to the smaller 4150 and also adress the accel pump and linkage. I have a Bob Book 4150 that has both patterns in it on the 64.

It seems to work on the 440-3. The intake is cut back a little on sides which give it the clearance it needs to sit flat.

Can you do it, yes in any number of ways. There was a time (maybe still is?) where certain class rules outlawed dual pattern baseplates. Just keep that in mind because being able to run your car in many classes is good. The other concern that I'll air is; sell the 4150 and put a 4500 on it. The 4150 on mine was for some NSS class. But I am done fighting it and will be selling off me Book 4150. Worked ok for my deal but the Braswell 4500 that replaced it was almost .2 quicker on my junk...

Sorry, I didn't check full throttle. The engine is sitting in a corner taped up so I was too lazy to take the tape off the intake. I'll either go down this afternoon or tomorrow for you.
