I have a 904 with a Turbo Action low gear apply manual valve body. Nothing special on the rebuild, 3.8 lever, 5 clutch drum, accumulator blocked.

Trans shifts fine but there is a lag between the 2-3 shift where you can hear the engine increase slightly in speed between the 2-3 shift.

What can I do to apply 3rd faster?

Please let me know if you need additional info.

Thanks.

Good call, it might have one. I put this togeter over a year ago and it did have a trans go kit in it before. looks like I need to check that because I cannot remember.

With the VB out you might want to air test the front clutch. Leakage at the rings/seals will make the clutch slow to apply.

I can do that but what should I watch for and how would I know there is leakage?

Use a rubber-tipped blow gun in the front clutch port in the case, when you hit it with air you should hear the "thump" as the piston applies and minimal air leakage kinda like bacon sizzling. Any sound of blowing air isn't good.

ADD some ATF into that port to get a clearier and more precise "sound".

If the kick-down band (front) is too loose it will allow a
flair on the 2-3 shift. Just a thought.
