I was wondering about plug wire recommendations when I saw this thread pop up. Time to replace my old MSD 8.5s and was looking at a new set of those or Moroso Ultra 40s. Wasn't considering Firecore 50s cuz I build my own wires so that I can run ceramic plug boots where needed due to burning issues. Firecore has a bunch of choices for boots and they'll build custom wire sets if you provide them with the dimensions. I used to have Firecore build all the wires for custom installs when I was doing that stuff.

Checked yesterday and they don't offer ceramic boots, only the same heat sleeves that I've used with mixed results. Ordered a set of MSD 8.5s a little while ago and will build my own, like usual. Thx

We run nothing but Taylor Spiro Pros.Even with headers on BBs and Sbs never a problem.I do have 7 in an insulated sleeve because the 2 inch tubes are close.Last set on my 440 were 15 years old.Still worked great just looked terrible

FWIW...I like to build my own so they fit just like I want them to...that rules out Firecores since they won't let you cut and crimp them yourself. Guess they have some magical procedure they do that us normal people can't manage.
I've run MSD, Taylor, Moroso, and a set of Firecore wires. No difference in any of them other than the look.

I use Moroso spiral core wires and have for years. The set on my duster are 8 years old and raced weekly during the summer. I like to make my own wires and bought the proper tool to do so years ago.
This is exactly what I do and have for yrs. Ran Moroso and Taylor. No issues with either. I like the ability to make the wires the exact length I want.

Over the years I have run Accell, Moroso, Taylor, Firecore, MSD, Standard 8.5's and a few others with good results.
I also cut my own wires and working with someone to custom fit a set is not worth the time for me. Easier to have a spool of wire, box of clips and a good crimper.

Don't get hung up on the resistance HP marketing ploy that some put out there - what you want is a good wire with high noise suppression if running an electronic ignition. Resistance of the wire really makes little difference (up to about 500ohm) when hooked to a spark plug (AKA-the load) - its all about getting the power to jump the the gap and make the spark - the circuit is an inductive circuit not a straight DC circuit. Now for wires I have run The Moroso , MSD , Taylor and I have tried the Firecore - there is no real advantage of any of the brands - I will say the Firecore when made to custom fit a given engine - are a pretty good wire because the ends are assembled on machine designed to put the ends on and they are plug and play - so the custom fit service is worth it. . The wire firecore uses is a Delphi GM design was designed for Nascar and Indy racing probably well over 25 years ago - its a good design and well proven - the same wire is used on the Summit House Brand 8.5MM wire. Since I run a HEMI now I like the MSD prostock style wires because they come in red and have the fancy boots with handles! The latest wire out there is the Holley it has one the best Noise suppression and I would recommend that one for anything with electronic fuel injectors. I make all my own wires also. I have used all the different brand names also but Firecore since I make my own. My MSD hemi wires are in black. Since I like the stock look.
