Hey Guy's recommend me a good oil pan gasket. What's good and what's crap these days. Actually I need 2 gaskets because of the windage tray. 1969 440 motor. 893 oil pan. Thanks.

Within the last six months I have used both the Hughes 3420S gasket ($10.75) and the Milodon 40700 ($23.99) and was very pleased with both. I used the Hughes gasket on the first engine I assembled and would have used it again but time was an issue and I was able to find the Milodon in stock locally without having to wait to have one shipped. I would recommend either though as they were both quality pieces .

Do you use any type of gasket sealer on these Fel-pro 1808s. If so what's your favorite. Many thanks.

I used one of these on the last 440 I built and I won't go back to the 2 gaskets and tray mess.

I never used them on stock pans, but the Superformance gaskets are the best I have ever used on windage trays and milodon pans. I don't use any RTV and have reused them over and over.

Total crap shoot with a stock pan. With a pan that has a nice thick billet rail I use the Cometic gaskets since they'll seal up tight as a drum but with a flimsy steel pan you really have to be careful about using a "trick" gasket. A set of oil pan rail supports might help.

Gus beer

I've used a couple of them also, no fed back from the customers yet work
I'll probably use one on the motor I'm putting together for myself to race on NOS with E85 next year, hopefully wrench luck

Is that a solid tray like the original mopar trays ? If so is the tray part steel ? It really needs louvers like a milodon tray, or a one way screen center, to help the oil get back to the sump faster ...

running up my post count some more .

I just posted this on the radiator hose leak question, but it's SO much more appropriate here up whistling
Forget all that hi tech stuff and try this:
Had a friend years ago. He built his own deep sump pan and put the drain plug on the BOTTOM. ( that really didn't matter as the pan was TOO low anyway). He installed the the pan, windage tray ( 440) and gaskets with 3m's YELLOW DEATH weather-strip adhesive. as he was told it was the best sealant to prevent leaks
Of course the first dip in the road took out the drain plug.
I will never forget him hanging under the car with two long prybars swearing while trying to get the pan off 🤣🤣.
When he finally did after quite some time, the pan and windage tray were destroyed. He then had to get the remains off the block with scrapers and solvents. Don't think he ever used that stuff for gaskets again beer
