Picked up some strange solid 7260 u joints to replace the hollow ones I have, good idea. I picked up a u bolt kit to replace the straps but not sure if there is enough meat on the yoke. Is this a worthy adventure and anybody do it? seems like a popular mod with the jeep crowd Steve

I would not. If you really want U bolts, get the appropriate yoke. Having said that, if you're still using 7260 U joints, you probably don't need to change anything. I ran in the low 11s and high 10s at 3700 lbs w/ the stock style straps and never had an issue, but that was w/ 7290 U joints.
I'm not sure how fast your car is or what combination you're running though. twocents

Don't do that tskI did that once realcrazy whineyIt failed puke
The stock CORRECT straps and bolts are a lot stronger on retaining the U joints cups in the pinion yokes than the after market U bolts kits are up twocents
Mopar design the pinion yoke to have the U joint cup inserted more than 50% in the yokes so the straps only hold the cups back into the yoke, they are not adding strength to the U joints scope up wrench
Make sure the straps you have are for your U joint size, don't mix the 7260 straps with a 7290 U joint or visa versa tsk
The way to tell iif you have the correct straps for your U joint is they fit flush, not loose or bound up over the U joint cups scope wrench up

Thanks Guy"s I passed on that mod, didn't look like a smart idea to me. Good t know the straps are a strong design but probably going to upgrade to 1350 driveshaft abd yoke over the winter beer

Yes! Imperials use U-bolts. I have a -742 house from a -67 Imperial.

As I recall those Imperials one's aren't 7260 or 7290 though I want to say Spicer 1330.
