What have you used successfully to remove mouse piss smell from your interior.

I pulled all the carpet, and pad and cleaned all the lose stuff. Now I need to deodorize the interior to remove the smell.

The truck had set in a barn and field for the last 33 plus years.

Thanks.

I have an ozone generator I bought for another problem that may do the trick. Might take a day or two in the car with the windows closed and another couple of days to air things out. I haven't used it for this issue so i cannot say one way or the other frown
See what others have to say and PM me if interested. Only other solution I know of is an ALL new interior beer

Before you buy anything expensive that's designed to remove odors, try Hydrogen Peroxide first. It's much cheaper & works quite well. I've used it in my house for cat urine & also in my car for when an outside cat was locked in my garage & used my back seat as a litter box.....LOL laugh2

Peroxide & other methods.....

This site said it may discolor fabrics but it never did in all the times I've used it. I doused the area heavily with just the peroxide & then covered the spot with aluminum foil to prevent it from evaporating too quickly.

You need a disinfectant - most odors are caused by bacteria. There are a few different disinfectant cleaners available at hardware stores like OdoBan. The active ingredient in all of them will be dimethtl benzyl ammonium chloride. Most of them are concentrated. Put this in a backpack or hand sprayer, and absolutely soak any fabrics that you need to reuse, scrub with a drill brush attachment, pressurewash, and repeat. This will work well on the carpet.

Then wet vac it as dry as you can get it, and let it set out in the sun and dry. The longer you can leave it in fresh air before reinstalling the better.

Any soft materials you can just throw out and not use do so. Clean hard materials the same way. Certain soft materials like late model headliners are difficult or impossible to save. If you really need to reuse delicate soft items your best bet is lysol and let it sit out in fresh air as long as possible.

There was mouse piss smell in my Duster when I got it. Bought a bottle of Resolve Urine Destroyer from Home Depot. Pardon the pun, but it didn't work worth a piss. It made the car smell nice for a little while but the smell returned each time I tried using it.

When I worked at a car dealership, they had some kind of deodorizer that came in a can. Had a fellow pop one open and take a sniff . He dropped to the floor and almost passed out ! Took him long time of time to recover ! there was a warning label he disregarded. Apparently this is really strong stuff for professional use. So I suggest you check with some dealers or detailers about what they use like this .

That sounds like the ozone deodorizer I was given by my local Dr. Vinyl franchiser for some odors in one of my cars - it was a can, I pulled the top off, all kinds of breathing hazard warnings, left it in the closed up car for a week. It reduced the odor, but not rid of it. I've since used a plastic bucket of Damp-Rid from Home Depot.. it is meant to absorb moisture, but it has a decent aroma too, so I left it in the car for a month.. it worked better, but still not completely gone.

I've had good luck with ammonia. Pour some in a couple of bowls, set on the floorboards, shut the doors and windows.
Let it sit a day or two. Refill the bowls if needed. Letting it sit in the sun will help bake out the stink as well.
Good luck

It gets absorbed by the fibers & soft trim. You'll have to clean everything, remove & clean what you can (seat & belts at least), replace carpet & padding.

Thanks for the ides and suggestions everyone.

My first step, other than removing the carpet. pad and seat, will be to wash the inside thoroughly with a sanitizer of some type. Once that is done I will try some of your suggestions and let you know what works.
