I have a big block MOPAR 493 engine used for bracket racing. The runs are mostly 1/8th mile now days and I'm shifting at 6400 rpm. How many runs before the Comp Cams 829-16 roller lifters need to be rebuilt? Has anyone gotten their lifters rebuilt by Comp recently? If not is there a shop where you can send them to for rebuilding? Thanks in advance for your input. MJ I don't think comp rebuilds them anymore. I have run the small block version of that lifter and have had good luck. I put a few thousand miles each on a couple of sets and never had a problem. I had to move away from them for my current R1 block engine.

Comp doesn’t offer the rebuild service any longer.

How many passes on them now? What spring pressures? More spring pressure, higher RPM, less passes you get before it eats a roller and makes a mess.
I got away from the needle bearing 829s several years ago when I got over 700 lbs open spring pressure.
Comp makes the bushed 829s now and that is what I use.
3rd year and 500+ passes on this set.

No you can order them that way. They still make them with the needle bearings.
You probably still have some life left in them with your setup being lower RPM, but I can tell you I couldn't get much more than that out of mine before the problems started.

The “829’s” are not available bushed.
The bushed lifters are from the Sportsman series. The bushed version is 96829B-16

So I took a look at Comps website. The 829-16 lifters that I have been running are now $628.95. The 96829B-16 are $1,195.95 so I would sure hope they would last longer.
I am going to contact johncalliesinc and see if they will rebuild my 829-16 lifters and go from there. Thanks for all the replies and information! MJ Holy cow, they weren't that expensive when I bought them. But I can attest to the fact that a chewed up roller lifter, metal thrown behind the piston skirts, and a ruined cam isn't cheap either.

Holy cow, they weren't that expensive when I bought them.
I run the Comp Cams 892 series lifter (pushrod oiling, tall) 892C, 892R, 892L (offset seats). In 2021 they were $42 each, now they are $69 each. That is +64% and they don't come with link bars, those are extra for whatever engine you run. Inflation is bad enough, but that is crazy price growth in just 2 years.

800 over the nose on the intake side Jim. Less on the exhaust. I was shifting at 6900 and was 72 7300 in the traps in good air when I had 4:88s in it. Today with 4:56s and bad air it was 6900 6900.
