Getting ready to order an S60 rear end for the mini-tubbed 69 Barracuda.

From what I’ve seen so far online, looks like a 335/50/15 is the street tire most people are running. But after doing some measuring, I think I can fit something bigger if I could find wheels with different backspacing?

I was just wondering (before ordering a rear end) what other options might be available.

Thanks, Moparts!

Call or contact the wheel companies you like and see what they offer scope up
I would recommend getting the wheels you want made and use them tuck up in the wheel wells with the tires you want to run mounted so you can get the proper width (axles to axle widths) rear down to the 1/8 inch correctly up scope wrench twocents

That is how I built my car. I built it around the wheels and tires.

^^^ Yup, the guys I know that build racecars start with wheels & tires, then the rearend width.
You can get different axle widths, but not necessarily wheel widths & backspacing.
Obviously rear suspension, frame rail location, and tub size figure in there too.
Might be a good idea to look at SS/AH cars for reference.

Figure out what tire size you want and then look for wheels that are available without costing a fortune and then see how those fit in the car. Once you know the ride height and the wheel placement in the tub then you can order the axle. Ordering the axle is one of the last things to do, not the first. Custom rear end housings only take a phone call. Figuring out which rim and tire combo to use and where to put them can take a lot longer. I spent a lot of time under my Duster before I ordered parts. I wanted a certain size tire located in the right spot. It takes a fair amount of time and effort to make it happen.

iagree Buy wheel and tire combo that fits and looks like you want, then measure with them posed in their position. Dont forget to add +/- 1/2" to the measurement to assume rotor or drum thickness. If you need to be somewhat conscious of budget try to find some that are mounted already and may be a great deal. surf the sale ads beer

One trick I learned is to order the rear end a little narrower than needed. That way you can use thin wheel spacers to push the wheel out to the edge of the fender for looks. I'll remove the spacers when I'm going to drive the car a lot, but if I'm going to a car show I'll put the spacers in so the tires are pushed all the way to the edge. Usually all you need is 1/2 per side to give you extra clearance for driving.

What spacers do you use Andy?

I'll take a SWAG that Andy makes his own spacers exactly the size he wants.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

really a lot of things to consider here, what ar the goals for the car?? i ask because if you want a double beadlock sometime in the future, you really want as little back space as possible. It really helps to mount the tires with 2" or so backspacing.
Anyway as mentioned, buy the wheels and tires you want or borrow , situate them under the car and measure between them. Also as mentioned make sure you subtract 1/4 to 1/2 for brake spacing. Also as mentioned , its easier to add a 1/8 or 1/4 wheel spacer than to re shorten the housing !!

When you have your final measurement , call Strange or whoever and thats your "width" it is absolutely the best way to do it. I did my car (1973 dart ) this way 12" rim double beadlock with 275 radials. And my sons duster 12" rim with 315 radials

On race cars, spacers are a no no

Mine is mini-tubbed to the frame rails, 15"X10" rim - 7" BS, regular A-body width Dana 60 in a 1969 'Cuda, on a pair of 325/50-15 M/T street drag radials.
