Can a factory points type ignition ballast resistor be used with a Mopar Performance electronic ignition? Both of my cars have MP ignitions of which I am using the ballast that came with the ignition kit. I have 7 or 8 original type ballasts that I saved over the years. I was just wondering if I could use them for back-ups should the ballast that came with the ignitions fail or are they not compatible?

if i remember correctly, point type resistors were .5 ohm and the electronic ignition kit is 1.25 ohm there is a noticeable difference with voltage at the coil between the two but a .5 ohm resistor will run ok. i prefer the msd .8 ohm resistor for use with either point or electronic. the msd resistor has been very reliable for me.
