If it is a BB or a gen 2 hemiroid motor I use two water pump gaskets, one on each side wrench scope up twocents

I use Superformance gaskets. Then I used Ultra black and rub it in the gaskets, no leaks.

Ultra Grey RTV. We've run the car 10 years this way. It's been apart for maintenance. It's been together at least 3 years at a time between maintenace. Never had a leak. No weepage seen during disasembly either. Used to use gaskets. Some times they'ld leak. Been at the track many times when others have had when using gaskets on a plate.

Any thing that guys over think on. If I run my engine in the race car past three years I do a little winter maintenance and take the engine plate and water pump off, clean it, and reseal it. Gaskets or No Gaskets it’s part of my program. Easy-peasy. Don’t overthink it.

That is a option if you have access to a good machine shop and you're going to be working on the motor in and out of the car a lot when you need to remove the plate or elephant ears up scope

all these replies using specific sealants etc... & all I do is make a gasket from a beer carton, smear grease on it & its good to go, & I do this on all my motors. never had a fail yet & I've been doing this for 30+ years.

No gaskets and Right Stuff. Let it cure 24 hrs before you add coolant.

Black or Grey RTV will seal it with no gaskets needed. Been doing ours that way for years with no issues
