The turn signal cam in my '68 Road Runner has lost an ear, and I'm trying to replace it. The replacement piece that I bought only includes the cam, not the entire assembly. My problem is that I can't seem to get the cam separated. I've removed the bolt that connects to the turn signal lever and I can't tell what's holding the cam to the rest of the assembly (and I don't want to pry on it too much a break something). Any idea what I need to do to get it apart? Thanks in advance for any help!

You need to add alittle more force because the cam is snug on the post that you removed the lever from.

Thanks! I'll give it a try.

Have you considered replacing entire switch? I know it's a little more labor because you have to access the connector down low and finding a NOS one can be expensive but if the cancel cam is bad the rest is probably brittle too. I've gotten lucky and found them on Feebay.

Facts are stubborn things.

I have found that when I replaced the cam, it lasted a while, but then started having light issues . . . replaced complete switch assembly - no issues. . . . .

My buddy just went through this on a 68 charger. When he replaced the just the cam with a cheap repop, the front turn signals would not work. I gave him an old switch to use the entire switch and everything works.

I replaced the turn signal cam in my 69 Barracuda a few years back. I forget where I bought it, but it was one of the cheaper ones. I've never done anything like that before, so I just swapped it out and figured it'd be fine. Once I finally got the car running, I had issues with the lights. After a good bit of troubleshooting, it turns out the 2 wire prongs on the cam were not making contact. After messing with it for a while and bending the prongs I ended up getting them to work.
