Crane did not make any cast roller cores for the LA engines. A 698851 would be ground on an 8620 carburized steel billet, which is copper colored between the lobes. It’s not copper between the lobes and looks like any ft cam ?

Numbers on the end of the cam? Ba-1852 on the gear side and R-280/427-8 on the front, I will show pics when I can.

Old DC book shows P3690795 R280-427-110 Crane 280 .640 108 Book lists this spring number if you can find the specs for it. P3412068 Probably got the old short crane roller lifters with it?

Thanks for the info, I got some crane lifters with it that I’m scared to use by the looks of them. Anyone ran these lol?

A big NO on running them. Myself, I can work with old parts and even cast core roller cams but not those lifters.

I may have one or two pairs left in my cabinet still The bigger diameter solid roller wheel lifters are well worth converting to
Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

We went to the Engles later 70’s. Those springs just keep the guide bars in place.

I recently purchased a old school built in 74 340, and not ran since. Trw full domes, crane r280/427, 108. Mopar part number P3690795 Solid roller, block is o ringed. Etc etc, It’s a killer old school build. Anyhow does anyone know what the spring is that cam calls for pressure wise? I can’t find any info. The box of springs that came with it and was ran in the garage only says 475 on the paper work. Unfortunately it’s a cast core it looks like.... I'd map out the events at .200" and post and 'we' can recommend something based on the rocker ratio and rpm etc. It looks like the lifters have been run, they show some signs of 'forking' Cool find anyway!
