My friend has a nice 70 Charger restomod and the parts to do a Daytona conversion. He is looking for a competent shop to do the conversion, any suggestions? This would be a nice relatively clean job on an already done car with no rot, rust or panel replacement to deal with. A great winter job for any shop. Preferably someone in the Northeast, but he won't rule out other capable shops who are versed in wingcars..

The window plug is the same as one that was installed on Ted Stephens Daytona on the Chop Cut Rebuild show.

The parts are quality pieces. The nosecone is heavy mat fiberglass,as are the headlight doors and fenderscoops. The hood and fenders are mint,as the car is a done showcar. The Daytona valence pan, latch tray, headlight pivot brackets, zee bars, headlight buckets, and frame braces are all steel as original. The windshield A pillar moldings are stainless steel reproductions. The front spoiler is heavy gauge aluminum. The grille frame and grille are steel. The turn signal lights are original 69 Valiant/Daytona pieces. The rear window plug is steel.the rear window is new AMD Daytona glass. The rear window moldings are modified original Charger pieces. The underside of the trunk filler panel is from an original 69 Charger 500/ The trunk hinges are new steel reproduction pieces. The trunklid on the car is mint, plus he has a second rust free Texas trunk lid, either one can be modified to fit. The wing is a steel reproduction, with steel wing washer reinforcement plates and steel wing braces. These are all clean quality parts.

These guys are in Arkport, New York, about an hour south of Rochester in Western New York: https://www.rjcars.com/

I don't have any personal experience with them, but it looks like they work on a lot of Chrysler products.

Just tossing it out there for consideration, I don't know anything about them.

That is highly unlikely with the current value of Daytona's these days. Projects start at 150k,if you can find one at all,and running driving Daytona's start at about 225k these days. We already have a restored showcar 70 Charger, and all the parts needed for the conversion.

I think you might know Joel Cox in the Cleveland area, he has a real Daytona and he and his brother have done some real high quality restorations in the past like Calvin Smith's A12 Super Bee for one. You can probably get a hold of Joel through Mike Ross's B/E&A in Litchfield, Ohio. Joel and Mike are good friends. Then on top of that Mike had a Wing cars gathering at his place in Litchfield a few years back and if Joel and his brother can't help you I'm sure Mike can or at least point you in the right direction.

Not sure but I think the blue Daytona is a "tribute" and also local and may have been done by Joel's brother??

Mike

Why put one in at all? Seems like alot of work for a tribute and the masses could care less. IMHO. Unless you have to have a shorter trunklid. shruggy

I've finally (after about ten years) bought everything, EVERYTHING, to make a Daytona clone except the air shields. Right now I have about $20K in parts, not counting the donor '69 Charger. When it's done I'll probably have about half of what an original Daytona costs with the advantage that if I get in an accident, I bought everything once, I can probably buy it again.
