I like using these clear valve covers (clear top anyway) on the dyno so I can verify that everything is working properly before we put the engine under load. Here is a short video of us warming up a big block Mopar with Trick Flow heads and Mancini Racing rocker arms.

Those rocker covers are a really good idea, seems to me.

Good question. Those are Mancini Racing rocker arms with a 1.60 ratio. I think they might anodize them blue now but that set was natural.

I made the valve covers a few years back but I still use them all the time. Actually I sold one and kept one and I use the one I have on most big block Mopar engines that we run. It is just a very simple way to gather a little more data.

You ever use a timing light with those while the lights are low to stop motion the valvetrain? I think it would look really cool and informative.

No but we used to do that when I was an engineer. We would use a strobe light with a dial and you could dial in different frequencies to see different things. These days they use high speed cameras since it works a lot better but I don't have one of those.
