I'm building ptfe lines for the 541. The hose ends are quick and easy to pop together. However, it seems to take longer to trim the stinkin nylon braid than to assemble the rest of the line.
Is it always a pain or is it just the DW line I'm using?
I tape the cut line and shear the hose. Then, I use a razor or X-acto knife to cut around the nylon. It's easy to feel the blade cut the nylon and drag against the steel braid.
That's where the fun starts. The blade cuts down to the steel but doesn't get in the lows of the steel braid and I end up taking 10 minutes twisting and turning the hose while trying to get the rest of the nylon cut. After trying several different approaches, I settled on a tiny pair of fingernail scissors to get the resistant strands cut.
What method do you guys use?

A small cut off wheel works well. Clean cut and straight. Or a chop saw works good, but kinda over kill.
Brian I think you missed the issue. 1) chop hose off. 2) slide female end over hose. 3) trim back nylon braid <~~~issue4) expand steel braid. 5) slip ferrule over inner hose. 6) poke male end into hose. 7) screw pieces together.

Do you think you could get the next size bigger olive jammed in between the nylon braid and the stainless braid and then use a razor knife to cut the nylon braid trapping against the olive? I just dumped a bunch of $$ on Fragola Race-rite PTFE hose and ends and plan to redo my fuel supply and return lines so I'm interested in how your PTFE hose assembly goes.

I have no experience with your particular hose/fittings so can't speak to that.
Will say, if you are open to using a ptfe hose with kevlar outer braid instead of stainless I've never assembled anything easier than Goodridge 910.
Cut hose with a razor, assemble easily. There's no ferrule.

I"ve made heaps of nylon braided hose. I wrap the end with tape & then cut thru it with my battery 5" grinder with the thin cutoff wheel on it. Makes perfect ends, just have to blow out the rubber filings before you fit the hose ends.

Makes perfect ends, just have to blow out the rubber filings before you fit the hose ends. Cutting the hose is easy. No worries there. The hose consists of: Inner PTFE hose. Middle steel braid for structure. Outer nylon braid for abrasion prevention. Cutting the nylon back to install the fitting is the problem. Mind you, this is an offcut I was playing with. The nylon is blasted out on this piece instead of the nicely taped and trimmed ends I used. The pic shows the type of hose I'm working with.

Ok, youre using a different kind d of black nylon braided hose. I use this type of hose for fuel & oils. It has a steel sleeve inside the rubber. I changed to this type of hose about a decade ago as it was considerably lighter & the hose ends were easier to fit, not stabbing with stray braid wire. Your hose looks like the std braided hose with a black sleeve on top. I cut my hose with a cutoff wheel in my 5" grinder, makes for a real nice edge to start with.

Kevin, you might try using a hot knife to trim the nylon Fair suggestion. I tried using heat on the section shown above. It was real easy to get little lumps of melted nylon. When I run the lines on the car side I'll switch brands of hose to see how it goes. Other than the nylon braid the PTFE hose is far easier and quicker to assemble than the old steel braided rubber hose.

I used all black fittings and black nylon hoses on my car for that stock factory appearing look. Well, sort of..... much easier and no pricking of the fingers like stainless steel braided. Also alot lighter.
