I pulled the motor and put a couple blocks of wood under the trans pan to support the front of the transmission.
But now I'd like to move the car.
Any ideas on a way to hold up the trans while I move the car around on wheel dollies?

Thx

I used a coat hanger or wire thru bell housing bolt hole, up and around master cylinder on 1 side, and to a bolt or stud sticking out of fire wall on passenger side.

I put something soft like folded up blankets or similar on top of each fender and then lay a 2 x 4 across fender to fender. Then I wire up the bellhousing to the 2 x 4.

I use a ratchet strap between the T bars to hold it up.

I have also used angle iron with holes drilled for ubolts to hold it to the T bars. I then bolted the angle iron to the front of the transmission but once I started using ratchet straps I found it overkill.

If you attach anything to the T bars make sure they don't have sharp edges to scratch them but it isn't hard to deal with.

How far do you have to move the car ?
All of the above will work.
Using the aprons or t-bars & preventing scratches is what I prefer.
I like to keep the trans from moving.

I seen a lot of people run a cable or something between a hole in the bell housing to the lower stud on the wiper motor. Not that i ever used this method.

put 2 phillips screwdrivers, 1 on each side , in the bellhousing/starter holes and a 2x4 or pipe across the torsion bars.

I have apiece of light angle iron and a pair of bolts just like IMGTX.

2x4 across the fenders (with a rag underneath each side) and steel cable through the bellhousing bolt holes. Use crosby clamps to secure the cable looped around the 2x4. This is at least how I did it.

Thx for all the replies, wasted an hour rigging up a bolt in the firewall for a coat hangar.
Then I look in all the closets and no wire hangars.......
Ended up with a piece of wood and that worked really nice.

At the rate I’m going this engine swap is going to take forever.
I spend more time McGyvering things and it never ends.

I envy you guys that have a shop set-up for this stuff.

Thx

The "shop" I've been using the last 20 years is a 2 car garage with an 8' high ceiling. A lot of stuff gets done outside, then rolled into the garage. You do whatever you have to do to get the job done, making special stuff is just part of the job.

The trick is once you make a special "tool" to make something work, label it and hang it on the wall for the next time you need to do the same thing.
