Well after 10 years and a long incredible, frustrating, but rewarding journey... I sold all of the turbo stuff out of my Plymouth this week.

I started with a lot of junk hand me down stuff as a project to get my engineering degree. Broke a lot of parts along the way every time we turned up the wick, and I've learned so much with this project.

In the end I'm really proud that I was able to take such a simple combo and run mid 9's in street trim with it.

What I learned
Stock block, crank, and rods will take a LOT of abuse.
No matter how expensive your pistons are, an over-aggressive tuneup will hurt them every time.
Many stock driveline parts will take high power, trans brake, drag radial, launches in a very heavy car... 8 3/4's and front planetary will not one of them.
Turbo cars don't need gear. Mine was very fast on 2.76, 3.23, and 3.55's
Converter selection is everything to making the car launch well.
A good set of shocks and slow motion video from your phone are like magic. Money well spent.
A turbo car WILL repeat as a bracket car if you leave off the trans brake with a boost controller. Zero doubt in that.

After giving it lots of thought, it's just time to get back to foot brake bracket racing with friends, focusing on racing instead of ET chasing...

...and most of all...It's time to go Nostalgia Super Stock Racing with my Dad (dvw).

Yep, I agree with what you said. If you keep the motor from detonating its amazing how much power stock parts will make and live. Whenever I hurt my 318 it was always pistons and an occasional head gasket.

Damit...I wanted to see you take it to the next level.....426 G3 Hemi and one or two turbo's....Eventually I want to turbo one of my cars and make it more streetable.

Car is awesome, why not just buy a striped down bracket car and throw the left overs in that?

I like the sound of that. What will the new combo be? Different car, or just different drivetrain?

Going to go NSS racing with this car. I struck a deal with HardcoreB to buy the 485" Indy SR headed low deck out of his Valiant. Will de-tune slightly and the goal is to run it in 10.00.

Car was 3740lbs fully loaded on the starting line. I'm HOPING that getting rid of the full exhaust, cast manifolds, 50lbs+ worth of turbo stuff will offset the new Big Block Weight. We will see!

Ultimately I decided not to pursue the turbo kits. The prototype is up and running in a Demon, but in the end I have been fortunate enough to have my career take off at Chrysler. Just don't have the time to take on something that big, and be able to provide good customer support.

Glad to hear you’ll be back out with it Scott! The turbo deal was pretty amazing and I’m sure you will be successful with the new setup as well. Sounds like a win/win for you and Sean both.

LOL... this car was together and on the chassis dyno a year and a half before Street Outlaws ever aired for the first time. So I think they are the monkey's not me! smile

Based on the theme of the original post and some of the responses, I'll throw-in my 2cents... As much of an All-Motor guy I am at heart, i don't think what i am selling Dizuster is as 'fitting' as the turbo 360 considering the original intent of the car. It may still be somewhat of a surprise with looks/verses performance but, it'll be much slower especially 'detuned' for longevity. For sure it will be nice for those two to run the same class, I've always liked this class. So, the goal now is to, achieve Dizuster's goal.

I was going to post the same thing!
I find it ironic the turbo slamming came from someone with the slowest tube chassis B1 headed car west of the Mississippi

Power adders have gotten a lot cheaper and the electronics to control them have a better availability.

There is a performance boom and Street Outlaws has very little to do with it.
