I am interested in hearing about your experiences with Firm Feel PS boxes.

Thanks

I have 2 79 300's. Both were supposed to have come from the factory with firm feel boxes. You can definitely tell the difference from the same car with a "regular" box. Still plenty easy to steer. Still crapy ( poor feed back )straight ahead feel ( IMO ). Better feel on turns though.

I put one in a diplomat about 6 years ago, the car is used as a daily driver summer and in the cold Canadian winters. It has lots of miles on it now and has been trouble free.
This box is the Stage II model, if I was going to get a new one I would go for the stage III.

I have a stage 2 and it's novacaine numb. I bought this from them when they were a fairly new company and the guy on the phone talked me out a stage 3 and into the stage 2. Big mistake on my part.

A buddy of mine has a stage 3 on a 'Cuda and it's great. That's the only way to go.

I am running a stage 2 on my 70 roadrunner. It's great. I bought a stage 1 first and it just wasn't firm enough, so I changed to a stage 2 and it feels perfect to me.

I installed the stage III 4 months ago and it is firm. It probably needs to be broken in. I like it.

Stage III,......only way to go!......many years and thousands of hard miles, no problems, well worth the money, with a new pitman arm my set up was about $475

I'm running a FF stage II with a 13" steering wheel and it's perfect. If I was running a larger diameter steering wheel I would have gone with a stage III.

Sorry to take the conversation here but....

Recieved mine, it looked good (coated well), several
weeks installed it had already broken
through with rust.

Just figured I'd save somebody from having
to install theirs twice like i'm gonna have
to do. Not even 75 mile on the car, never
seen water, it looks terrible.

I guess I only bought the internals.

Fair enough, but let's remember that, stock, they were just bare cast iron - no corrosion protection whatsoever. I have some NOS ones and they are rusted in the box!

Stage III in 69 B-body, perfect! I think you can order it unpainted and use your favorite rust converter and paint it cast iron color. Mine came painted black gloss. Some of the paint has come off revealing redish primer.

I have a FF stage II in my 67 Chrysler 300 'vert. I love it!! I tried 2 Steer & Gear level 2 boxes and was very disappointed....the SG boxes had too much on center play and were really not very firm.

I basically just took the $$ bash and ordered the FF box. BIG difference!! It is firm, but not bad at all and there is much less on-center play...Believe it or not, I just had FF's rear sway bar installed and THAT made a significant difference in steering precision...

Other opinions? I've been trying to make the decision between 2 and 3 as well.

I've had a stage II in my '70 Dart for about 8 years with a Tuff Wheel. I'm very happy with it.

Some see the glass as half empty, some see the glass as half full. I just drink straight out of the bottle.

Can anyone on here be a little bit more specific on the effort of the different stages??

Such as: is the stage 3 box like having manual steering??? thanks

According to Firm Feel's site
"Stage 2 is similar to a modern performance car"
"Stage 3 is about as heavy as anything out there"

Neither should feel as heavy as manual I would believe.
