I have 2 79 300's. Both were supposed to have come from the factory with firm feel boxes. You can definitely tell the difference from the same car with a "regular" box. Still plenty easy to steer. Still crapy ( poor feed back )straight ahead feel ( IMO ). Better feel on turns though.

I put one in a diplomat about 6 years ago, the car is used as a daily driver summer and in the cold Canadian winters. It has lots of miles on it now and has been trouble free. This box is the Stage II model, if I was going to get a new one I would go for the stage III.

Sorry to take the conversation here but....
Recieved mine, it looked good (coated well), several weeks installed it had already broken through with rust. <snip>
Fair enough, but let's remember that, stock, they were just bare cast iron - no corrosion protection whatsoever. I have some NOS ones and they are rusted in the box!

Other opinions? I've been trying to make the decision between 2 and 3 as well.

I've had a stage II in my '70 Dart for about 8 years with a Tuff Wheel. I'm very happy with it.
Some see the glass as half empty, some see the glass as half full. I just drink straight out of the bottle.

According to Firm Feel's site "Stage 2 is similar to a modern performance car" "Stage 3 is about as heavy as anything out there"
Neither should feel as heavy as manual I would believe.
