looks like they bondoed the original tag & custom engraved it

If it is Bondoed, and it does appear to be, you should be able to turn it over and still read the back. Unless of course they did a real "professional" job and Bondoed both sides,

custom made tag the top two lines codes are combined in one line to make room for the name I noticed that after looking at other examples that it must be combined, had too many digits, not sure of my decoding with letters covered. Never did a 68 tag before, its different. The underneath will hopefully reveal the original.
