Don't know what you have changed recently ( if anything - besides the u-joints - which didn't solve the problem ) to get the vibration, but you could try unbolting the convertor and rotating it 180 degrees and bolting it back up. The flex plate does have a big bite out of it for external balanced engines right? Got a big hunk of iron hanging off the trans tailshaft? That was Chryslers cure for a vibration in about that rpm range on some vehicles.

You probably know this but 360's are externally balanced, heavier dampner and weights on the convertor.Since yours does'nt have the weights that is probably it.And check and see if your u-joints are centered in the yoke.

Good luck with that trick.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

If he already bought the B&M flex plate for a 360, it is made to be run with a non-weighted convertor, which he has. He should be all set there. Cheap aftermarket convertors can have a balance problem - hence rotate it 180 and see if that helps. If he put the u-joint "C" clips in properly, they should be centered. Good to check though.

The drive plate to torque convertor bolts/lugs have one lug offset to NOT allow mixing up their indexing.

Are you sure you have the correct 360 balancer?
There are 2 different ones. A LA360 and a Magnum which is 92 and up.

Yes, has it always had that vibration or did it start recently?

I got the B&M plate with the notch cutout on it to run a converter with no weights. The motor is a low mileage 29K,360 with the balancer that was on it when it was pulled out ..And I cannot spin the converter because it does only bolt on 1 way..The vibration started after I changed everything, removed the 318 and trans, and put the 360 in with a new rebuilt 727. I think I can rule out u joints and wheels, as the vibration is there when sitting in park..Maybe the converter is junk. its a GER, and I guess they are out of business?

HMMM - I'll have to check mine again, Thought the indexing was drive plate to crank only on external balance B&M plates. Don't understand why you would have to index a convertor to the drive plate with no external weights on the convertor? It's been a while since the 408 I've been running for the last 3 yrs is internal balanced - forget a lot at my age.

that would be my thinking. It's a nonmagnum 360 that ran good when pulled(no vibration I'm sure)harmonic dampener wasn't changed(would be no reason to), the correct flex plate(The one for an externally bal 360 with a neutral 727 converter) was used. R&R the converter.

Both the crank to plate and the plate to convetor need to be indexed because it's not actually the plate that needs to be indexed (in a factory app). It's the convertor to crank that need to be indexed.
