I have great, long lasting results using VHT High-Temp paint. Great stuff and it touches up nicely.
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda #'s 440-6(block in storage)currently 493" 6 pack, Shaker, 5 speed Passon, 4.10's 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible 408 Magnum EFI with 4 speed automatic overdrive, 3800 stall lock-up converter and 4.30's (closest thing to an automatic 5 speed going)

Like the others who commented already, the ceramic coating I did on mine (done by a speciality shop, not myself) lasted a good 10 yrs of seasonal driving only (summer time) and came out with no rust on them. Mind you, the coating did start to form into these 'crystal like' flakes where eventually it would peel off in that spot, but that's what I noticed just this year having take them off, and these areas were limitted to just a few spots.
So all in all, I was very happy to see how these lasted. Basically I think I could bring them back to the same shop who will put them through a complete pain strip process first and get them re-coated.

Sandblasted and painted with BBQ black paint. Works really well and still lasting 7-ish years later.

Have not used on headers, but have used on cast iron manifolds with success. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Black-Ru...e-Enamel-Flat-Spray-Paint-12-Oz/17203457Unlikely you can do this curing in an oven with larger headers, but I did the 3 step curing in an oven. Has held up well. Says flat black, but almost has a dark cast iron appearance. I have Jet Hot coated manifold and sadly they rusted after a few seasons, so tried this on my next build.

can nickel plated headers be blasted and painted, or does the plating need removed first ? I would say it depends on 1. If the plating is completely intact 2. Do not get overly aggressive with the blasting, just roughen the surface. If you break through the plating it may lead to future peeling.

TC@HP2 I believe you may be on to something as my engines using headers with flat black grill paint were at 9:1 or so. They did burn a bit when first running the engine in and tuning. I just masked off a little and resprayed up top. As far as cleanliness in preparation...probably not the best. Just hit the already used headers with a scotchbrite green pad and wiped off with acetone before spraying. Never had any high compression motors using my header method.
