Sounds like the condenser fan is not working.

Do the 3rd gen Rams have blend door issues like the 2nd gen Rams? My 2nd gen Ram did that, except I could hear the blend door "slam" shut when I came to a stop, then suddenly nothing but heat.

Check your charging system, and current flow to the compressor clutch at idle.
if you have issues with your charging system, and current gets too low at idle, there may not be enough current to hold the clutch engaged.
Rather than becoming completely disconnected, it could be slipping, which will burn up the clutch very quickly.

Is it just the passenger side? Or both sides?

Yes, fan issue. I'm betting if you added an electrical fan you'd notice a difference, but thats not fixing the problem.

The condenser already has an electric fan on these models. The poster has to see if it runs. My bets the fan is inoperative.

If the fan is working it is very possible there is debris between the condenser and radiator. Grass clippings, plant seed fuzzys etc. The condition is generally caused by lack of air flow thru the condenser.

Might check and make sure the clutch on the compressor isn't turning off at idle and then coming back on with rpms.

If it is a gas model, yes it has a fan. If a diesel it does not.

It is the condenser fan. I've replaced two of them in my 2007 Ram 1500. The fan motors wear out and at low vehicle speeds, the A/C blows hot..
