I have this center section, how can I tell if it is a power lock or a track lock? I think it came out of a 70 e-body.

Thx

just ordered clutches for my trac-lok, tech guy at dts told me if it had 8 bolts holding the two cases together it was a pwr. lock, if it just had a center pin and a roll pin holding it then it was a trac lok.

That`s a power lock in your picture.

Are these the bolts that can be seen in my pic? It looks like there is maybe 14-16 of these?

Thx

There`s bolts on the other end that can`t be seen in your picture. They hold the case halves together. The big bolts in your picture hold the ring gear on.

Which version is considered the best?

Your power lock has four spider gears instead of the track locks` two so it`s stronger and an overall better design. They`re expensive to produce so like most everything else that was good they quit using them in everything but the heavier trucks that still needed a good axle.

Before you spend time and money installing that, check the axle spline count. It could be a 30 spline truck unit.
