Well ... ON TOPIC ....
I was using Valvoline 0-40 ... good stuff but Wally World DOUBLED the price !
Also ... with the front engine shield... isn’t the filter and oil pan cooling hindered?
Or do the SRT engineers like to see that 0-40 oil at a higher operating temp ? You can use other full synthetic oils of the same weight if you don't like the price. Wal mart now sells 12 quart mobil 1 containers for $50- a decent deal since you have to run 7 quarts. The reasoning behind the ultra thin weight is not only fuel economy, but the 6.4 is built with much tighter tolerances and needs a thinner oil to effectively lubricate the internals. Dont believe me? I've done an [censored] load of research the last few months related to lifter failures, and part of the research revealed if you pull the oil control solenoid out of the block and its loaded with metal shavings, the entire engine must be replaced- take a guess why. The front shield you speak of is on all the srt rides. Don't remove it. It serves several purposes designed to benefit the vehicle. It does not contribute to higher oil temps- if concerned, check out your performance pages, it will allow you to monitor all that stuff.

One might conclude that Doc has an oil fixation.

One might conclude that Doc has an oil fixation. That or his memory is starting to go. On topic, option 1: Let the dealer change it while it's under warranty. option 2: Use Mobil 1 and a premium filter then video document the changes while under warranty. option 3: Don't purchase a vehicle that requires DIY $50 oil changes, expensive brake pads, and pricey tires.

Read what I posted for you. Yo jimBo ... I did and I appreciate it but you should elaborate ! What is EXACTLY the 411 on the 12633 spec ? .... and if THAT is THAT critical... why isn’t that printed on the oil fill cap ? I called the FCA SRT phone line ... asked which oils are acceptable..... nada
