Have a 361 in my '66 Coronet. Have tried 3 sets of "custom" wires. All of them fit like garbage. Longest wires are WAY too long, etc. Is the general consensus just to buy make-your-own wire kits and a decent tool? Would seem like someone would make some that actually fit and for the designed routing.

Anyone?

FireCore 250's will look and fit like OEM and perform much better.

Whose wire kit do you buy that is worth anything? I don't want something that looks like it was out of the JC Whitney catalog.

I used the Taylor 8.5 mm Spiro-Core wire kit. I bought a pair of ratchet crimpers from Summit. They make really good looking crimps.

74 Challenger, bought it new. In 1978 I replaced the original 318 with a 446 and 727. Mild cam, Jardine headers, and Holley Sniper EFI.
New engine! 511" RB, Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, Eagle rotating assy, Comp hyd roller cam, Doug's 2" headers.

Firecore! Simply the best!

I've ran MSD, and Taylor and the Firecore are head and shoulders above them. Fit perfect out of the box.

Im running MSD wires on the Daytona. I got the ones with the adjustable angle plug boot. They came with a stripper crimper tool that works good also.

What's a decent and inexpensive crimping tool for someone who's only going to do a few sets?

I have these from Summit. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-900399
They seem to do a pretty good job.

I've been making my own with Taylor 8MM spiral core wire with their spark plug and distributor boots and crimp on wire ends for many, many years up
They offer different colors on the wires and wire boots scope I buy the 100 ft. rolls and boots and ends in 25 count packages scope up
I use to use MSD cut to fit spark plug wire kits but not now.

I run Taylor’s too. Currently running PRO wires (not RF recommended) along with an MSD 6AL box and AM/FM radio with no problems!

The shop I worked at years ago did tons of specialty/performance work. We built many custom wire sets using these same pieces. I built a set for my low deck A-body with CPPA headers(no way you're using a stock style set) They've been on there over 20 years...still look and work great!
