Is this a known issue?

Not the brakes. I replaced them months ago. I hear a definitely grinding while rolling through my neighborhood (where its quiet enough to hear). Doesn't go away applying brakes. Noise only stops when the truck stops. 85,000 miles. No water driving (other than rain) or boat ramps ever.

When I got a TWO THOUSAND DOLLAR BRAKE JOB QOUTE about a year ago from both a dealer and a local tire store, one of them mentioned wheel bearings like that a "maintenance item". I have never had a wheel bearing issue in 40 years of owning vehicles.

Jack it up and spin the front wheels. That will let you know if it's wheel bearings ,which are an issues on Rams. I had to replace both sides on my 2014 RT Ram at 50k miles. Not a hard job.

Unitized wheel bearings are pretty much all junk. Not because the bearing itself is junk but because there isn't enough grease in it to dirty the palm of your hand.

I had a Ford Contour that you could set your watch for 35,000 miles and a front bearing would start to howl.
You could actually get one apart without wrecking it and I was able the pack an additional amount of bearing grease into it equal to the size of a chicken egg. That, oddly enough was the amount we were taught in high school shop class to pack in a wheel bearing.

That set of bearings outlived the car.

My '01 4x4 2500 24V has 190k km's (120k miles) and my wheel bearings are still original, and so are my u-joints. Your milage seems pretty low for needing wheel bearings. I've had a couple newer Dodge 3500 work trucks with more miles than my own truck, that never had front wheel bearings done either. But... I probably just jinxed myself.

I have wheel bearings go over 200k,and others only last about 30k.I guess its the luck of the draw, oem or aftermarket.

180k on both my bearings on my 01 as well as all unjoints. Replaced a hanger bearing at 150k. Luckily desert life has been easy on stuff. Not an easy job on nordern rusty stuff....

Are your tires older or worn? I’ve had tire a make a sound similar to a wheel bearing going bad.

Also make sure one of your disc brake splash shields isn’t slightly bent and rubbing something. I had this right after a brake job.
