I have a 511 coming together and would like it to make as much power as it can with what I have. As close to 700 as possible. 11.5 compression 264/268 .660/.652 on 108 solid roller 1.5 Mancini rockers Indy 400-2 single plane 2 to 2 1/8 step header 1050/4150 carb The motor is street/strip so no dominator. Although I may try one on the dyno. My main question is about the intake. How much porting is necessary on the intake? What would it make just port matched vs more porting. Does anybody have pics and details? How much would a 1.6 rocker help power and how would it affect longevity? And second what should this motor make for power and torque for the average person? I do plan to have it on a dyno in a few months. If you have a similar build or other thoughts feel free to share.

I use a super victor on my 505 , i port matched it and cleaned up at carb flange . Went back about 2/3 " @ ports . I would expect you to make a few more hp than me as i have 11.0:1 and a big sft cam , 0.600 nett lift I also run full exhaust to diff . I would love to try 1.6 but as i have crane 1.5 i cant buy replacement 1.6 . They might be a bit harder on springs . Times in my sig , 10.25 was on 28" radials , World block was on 30" radial

New best ET 10.259@129.65 . New best MPH 130.32 Finally fitted a solid cam, stepped it up a bit more 3690lbs through the mufflers New World block 3780lbs 10.278@130.80 . Wowser 10.253@130.24 footbraking from 1500rpm Power by Tex's Automotive

I had to do quite a bit of grinding on my 400-2 to make it Max wedge size. also it had a lot of core shift .

We only have a 10:1cr mild street/strip motor, 589ci though, runs a small .625"-260/270@.050 s/roller, cnc365 -13's, 440-2 don't know if its been ported or matched, small 950HP carb, 2.1/8>2.14" -4" collector TTI's and made 695hp on the dyno, mph/weight through full exhausts shows we are only 20-hp off that.....you should do 700hp with your 11.5:1 combo assuming you got good heads which you don't mention.

You can see the scribbed marks around the ports, this was just the rough in, I followed all the way through the roof of the runner,

All the Indy 400-2, 400-3 ,440-2 and 440-3 all, both early and late castings, had M.W. size intake ports. I've never owned or seen a 400-1 or 440-1 intake, are they stock 440 size intake ports? As far as HP and torque with Indy SR M.W. size intake ports and 440-1 ported M.W. size heads dyno tested the same short bocks made 50 to 70 HP more with the bigger heads using the same intake, carb, camshaft and compression ratio. The pump gas stoker 400 517 C.I. motor 10.78 to 1 compression ratio made 727 HP with the SR heads and 775 HP with the 440-1 heads. My 440 526 C.I. high compression test mule motor made 775 HP with the Indy SR M.W. size intake port heads and 845 HP with the same 440-1 heads that I had used on the pump gas 400 stroker motor. All testing was done at Karls machine shop on his DTS engine dyno in Klamath Falls, OR at 4300 Ft above sea level back in the spring of 2010 or so What heads are you going to use, Trick Flow 270? I haven't used any of Trick Flows parts yet but I am looking forward to trying some of them soon BTW, Holley 1050 CFM Dominator carbs with the original List # 9375 work great on the street, not so on the later #9375 HP versions I did have to lean down the front idle feed fuel circuits and the same on the front transition fuel feed circuits to get them lean enough for me to like them that way

Your build is very similar to my 505. Your cam has slightly more lift and slightly more duration. Not much. But I use the Mopar Performance 337 intake. My carb is a 4150 and flows 1000 cfm. I have Hooker 2 inch 5209 headers. My compression is just under 11.2:1. Untouched TrickFlow 270 heads. Intake was port matched and nothing else was done to it.
My motor made 713 hp and around 709 torque. I would think that yours should make more, but I don't know how that intake will perform versus the 337 intake. Also street/strip.

I'm running a pair of 650ish billets and my Dart has never ran harder and felt this good compared to a single Dommy. I will never even consider a single carb deal again cos no single manifold on earth can give you the distribution and power of a pair of properly sized and set up carbs......
