When I first posted about this issue one member said You Know You Have To Disassemble The Transmission To Get The Strut Back In!! He was correct!!! Only in SOME cases. Your circumstance isn't typical, I've never had a problem installing the strut in a fully-assembled trans.

It wouldn't take much in the way of thicker lining or core design to cause your problem.
