I used a regular 100 lb psi gauge on my sending unit port & it flutters quite abit. do oil psi gauges have a dampener to soften this & this flutter is normal with a generic gauge? thank you for your time

it is still on there but I will check it & it has to come off to put the new OE sender on (old one was shot) & it is a grocery getter so I should be OK with just a light for the time being. It was scaring me as the light would come on randomly so I put the gauge on there that I had on hand & it turned out the OE sender was bad but I did see all the fluttering. Thanks Cab

what I gathered from your first post is that if the gauge does not have the small hole that fluttering is normal. right or wrong? I wont know until I pull it.

it was jumping wildly over a 10-15 psi range & it has a good sized inlet

Don't know if this applies, but everytime I've seen a bouncing/ fluttering oil pressure gauge, it was due to a rod bearing going away??

hello if you are using the copper line for the gage an old trick is to put a couple loops in the line? . Yep. I do that. Learned that trick working on airplane engines.
