Impressive Indeed I wonder why they haven't on a 50+ year old plane converted over to modern 4 engines ala C5A?
Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

I think that project is finally going to happen, it will extend the life of the platform even more. They could have paid for the engines years ago with fuel savings.

I lived adjacent to Carswell AFB in '63 & '64, Dad worked for General Dynamics when the F-111 was developed. Saw a LOT of B-52's, Dad said their nickname was "old droopy wings". Many years later I was surprised to hear the BUFF acronym. Either Dad didn't want me to know or that nick came along later. I suspect it was a later nick.

I thought I'd read years ago the 747 engines were one of the first proposals to re-engine the B-52?
