Impressive Indeed up

I wonder why they haven't on a 50+ year old plane converted over to modern 4 engines ala C5A?

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

When I was 10 years old in 1968 my dad was stationed at a SAC Airforce Base in Montana. I remember watching 30 plus B-52 Bombers take off at one time minutes apart during base alerts. It is a site I will never forget. eek

Isn’t the B52 now pretty much a long range standoff attack platform, whereas B2 is for “inside” hostile territory?

I think that project is finally going to happen, it will extend the life of the platform even more. They could have paid for the engines years ago with fuel savings.

The B-52 was a test bed in the 70s for 747 and C-5 engines
https://aviation.stackexchange.com/questions/74192/what-is-this-large-engine-doing-on-a-b52

Not to hijack, but I was kinda saddened when I learned the C-5's don't have the TF-39s anymore.

I don't have access to any one who really knows the current plans on using which weapon for which job shruggy
I'm thinking guided missiles from outer space is probably the safest way to protect our military personnel up twocents

I lived adjacent to Carswell AFB in '63 & '64, Dad worked for General Dynamics when the F-111 was developed. Saw a LOT of B-52's, Dad said their nickname was "old droopy wings". Many years later I was surprised to hear the BUFF acronym. Either Dad didn't want me to know or that nick came along later. I suspect it was a later nick.

I thought I'd read years ago the 747 engines were one of the first proposals to re-engine the B-52?
