I run Hoosier 9X30 radials on my Valiant. It likes 25. I tried 24 down at Coles County and it spun. My car is fairly light and no horsepower though.

with the MT 275 or PBR 28x10.5 I would always run 18 - 18 1/4 psi that was best . I used a 8"rim with the 275s and now 10"with the PBR . I now run the 29.5x10.5 PBR it likes 19 1/4 psi . I have also tried Hoosier 29.5 x 10.5 radial , it went to nearly 23psi but just didn't seem to like my car . Has erratic traction . With the 28s I was foot braking now I use a transbrake and leave @ 4500 . I have a 4.1 gear . Best sixty is 1.42

You say heavy. How heavy? My car had weight in it for NSS racing this weekend. I had 170lbs in mine. That puts me at 3670. I run 18.5lbs in my 29.5x10 pro bracket radials. I was 1.31-1.32 in the 60 across 4 days. Our wagon weighs 3800 and we run 22lbs in the 30x9 radials on it. It goes 1.40 in the 60. Brother, that wagon is totally badass. Thanks for the picture

The wagon has been around for a while. I remember racing against it in IHRA Stock when it had a legal small block crate motor. The Ross family out of Ohio and Herb McCandless Jr. owned it over the years.
I've run 21-22 lbs in my Hoosier 9" radials on 10" rims. Using a wider rim allows for more pressure while maintaining a flatter footprint. But, naturally, each car has it's own preference.

McCandless sold it to Noel Davis and I bought it from him. I think we have had it 7 years. It was still a legal crate car when I bought it. It has a big block in it now and runs Nostalgia Super Stock.

I learn a long time ago that there are many different tire pressure gauges that are off, don't read the same as other gauges read differently, by as much as 3.0 lbs. between three gauges made by the same good brand gauge on the same tire at the same time My message is use only your gauge (and never loaned it out ) and test the pressure at the track in 1.0 lb. increments to get the best 60 ft. and reaction times. Once you get close then try using 1/4 lb. changes I haven't ran radials in a long time so what I use to used is probably not useful now I ran M/T ET Street 315x60x15 Radials, they liked 18.0 lbs. on my gauge My old pump gas Duster weighed 3450 Lbs. with me in it and ran mid to high 1.40 60 ft. with a lot of .010 and quicker lights, occasionally going red with .49 something red lights Test, test and test some more until your happy
Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)
