After over an hour on google and youtube, getting nowhere, I am hoping you guys can help. I'm installing a factory radio in my '79 Warlock and need to know where the wires coming out of the back of the radio go. There are 5 wires in question, black, purple, green, white and yellow. There is no under dash harness to plug into so I have to direct wire it. The double prong harness for power is there and hooked up. Thanks for any help.

the orange and red should be on all trucks, that's the main power(red) and inst lights (orange). The black, purple and green is stereo right and left w/ground.(black) You'll have to ground radio too.
His yellow is sun faded orange I bet. (Edited, nope Yellow is correct but the same as Orange) But yes Red = 12V positive Orange(Yellow) = dimmable dash lighting Black = only speaker ground. Do not ground this for the power, use the ground strap stud. You can burn out the transistor inside the radio. Violet = Right channel Green = Left channel There should be a bolt stud for a braided ground strap. This is the ground for power. CB antenna and AM/FM antenna connectors. These are Din 1.5 so a modern 1980-1990's AM/FM CD unit will fit too.

Thanx everyone. What about the white wire? Yellow and white are "rear" left and right. I'd have to look in a trunk to see which is which, green and purple are the fronts.

I had a '75 Clubcab truck and it had rear speakers mounted in the cab corners. Here's a pic of my radio.
