You can weld the bolt with the engine in the car. Drilling the left side would require tilting the engine a fair amount. Slide hamer may not fit in the tunnle either. Welding is way quicker. Plus when you weld a fastener it tends to shrink. Used a standard length 3/8" ratchet to pull it out. Took 5 minutes to pull both dowels. Doug

Thank you for your input on this but my 110 Sears welder and the operator are not that good
