You should be able to see the offset step on the dowels work
Or are you verifying the exact amount of offset with those dowels work If so, good for you up

You can weld the bolt with the engine in the car. Drilling the left side would require tilting the engine a fair amount. Slide hamer may not fit in the tunnle either. Welding is way quicker. Plus when you weld a fastener it tends to shrink. Used a standard length 3/8" ratchet to pull it out. Took 5 minutes to pull both dowels.

Thank you for your input on this but my 110 Sears welder and the operator are not that good
