Here is red car, with M46 option, black out (thought they all had it) and the white reflective stripe . . . .

I can see that. They are definitely an acquired taste. I just wanted something that would be a touch different but still be an original looking part.

I did contact Scott and he can make them but doesn't very often because of low demand. His price is pretty good, especially considering the great quality he does with all his work.

Cool thread for sure. I can say in all my years in the parts business scouring over 200 wrecking yards from 1984-1992 in the SW US (TX, OK, NM, AZ, CA, NV), we never saw these on any Barracuda - EVER.

For those of you that have not looked at the links I provided and read a ton of information I will post my list here.
Most of these cars are still in existence. A few of them are questionable as to whether they are gone now.
I have one more to add to this list and working on two others to add to the list. I will get them added soon. In the mean time,

If anyone has any information on an M46 I would love to investigate it. Doesn't have to be for sale. Several of the M46's I have found have been cloned to cuda's and no longer retain their scoops.

Here are a few pictures I have.

Would love to get better pictures of that red one and the green one that sits with that red one.

Would love to know anything about the yellow convertible.
Not the one in the last post, it's not a real vert obviously. but the one in this post is an old picture and I've never found any info on that car.

And to add to this, All M46's came with the black out lower portion of the body, blacked out rear tail panel with the m88 trim, blacked out valance and were supposed to also have a blacked out grill.

I'm no expert so if someone has something to contradict this I'd be glad to learn.

There are two 3/8 keeper nuts on the top of the scoops, one in the rear inner quarter behind the rear interior panel and one in the wheel well on the rear quarter.
The bottoms of these scoops were held on with phillips head screws. Most have 4 screws and corresponding holes and a few I've seen have 3 phillips head screws.

The keeper nut in the rear quarter appears to always be the worst preserved.

Not much to add here but that had an f8 green 70 383 barracuda that had those scoops. We all thought they were aftermarket but they were in the body shop crash books at the time, about 1981. Never saw another set. Sold that car, and it was pretty clean for rust at the time. Have no idea if it is still around, or the vin.

I wonder how long they were around the Chrysler parts warehouses? Around summer 1976, I started buying extra stuff for my 1970 Cuda. I remember buying a pair of front spoilers for the AAR - they were under $4.00/each. Bought a Cuda rear sway bar, which I eventually installed on my AAR around the mid-90's. I'm really curious how many service copies of these were in the parts system, & how much they cost, & when they were finally depleted?

Also, anybody know the Chrysler part #'s on these?

I have some old crash books, will take a look for part#. I bought a black aar grille in 1980, was one of the last few out there, had to pay a special handling charge to be sure to get it, total cost was $59.00. Wheel open mouldings were $4.95.

I would love to have a part number for these scoops. Thanks for looking.

59 bucks for a black aar grill. That's crazy. Seems they are the dear lords fortune now a days.

And also available in both 70 and 71, covertible and hardtop, and it looks like the 1970 was the only red white tape stripe year, not listed for 1971.

I think it was drafted up for '71 but not offered, from what I've seen.

What's strange is that this was offered for the Barracuda and not 'Cuda. All they had to do was delete the rockers when the option/package was ordered.

Here is a picture of the new reproduced scoops in a mold.

I was wrong, this is an original scoop in the first molding. Better molds now. My mistake. Old photo and I was corrected.

There is a factory picture of a 71 barracuda with the scoops on the car. It's hard to see the scoops. There was not a 71 produced with the scoops installed.

Here is the picture. Took me a few minutes to find it.

Can't see the scoop very good but it definitely has a black out bottom and a double reflective tape line running above the blackout.
