I would check the drag on the brakes. Race brakes usually back off so there is no drag but it scares the heck out of you to drive it normal because a light touch on the pedal doesn't do much. Also the wheel bearings to make sure the wheels spin freely.

I also have a 68 dart with stock front and Dana rear. Big Block / 727. The car was impossible to roll with the trans in it. Once I removed that, the car rolled free. I am sure it is a non-rollerized set up in the trans. Is this common? Might be your problem as well. I can easily push my car in the staging lanes by myself with a non rollerized 727 in neutral. With a spool, though, it is exceedingly difficult to go around corners!
'63 Dodge 330 11.19 @ 121 mph Pump gas, n/a, through the mufflers on street tires with 3.54's. 3,600 lbs. 10.01 @ 133mph with a 250 shot of nitrous an a splash of race gas. 1.36 60 ft. 3,700 lbs.

Check the driveshaft pinion angle.

Let me state the obvious. Is the car square? Not Dog tracking? Way back in the 70''s at a Mopar seminar they talked about the same thing. Next thing would be the weak 8 3/4 housing.
